THURSDAY, 12/4/08

We had a good Wednesday as God blessed our various services, Bible studies, and classes.  It seemed that our attendance in the auditorium was down some which is surprising to me since it is Christmas.  Isn’t Christmas about celebrating Jesus?

I spoke to Miss Carmen Reyer late yesterday afternoon and she is doing very well in her recovery from knee replacement surgery.  Keep praying for her!

Ralph & Don Rimmer’s paternal grandmother passed away Monday.  The visitation will take place tonight and the funeral service will be held tomorrow.  I do not have the specific details but do ask that you pray for the Rimmer family.

Our Upward season begins tonight with the first game beginning at 6:00PM.  I ask you to pray for Bro. Benny and all involved in this ministry.

I continue to be “surprised” at our society.  Coach Tuberville’s firing yesterday afternoon amazes me!  Of course, I don’t feel “sorry” for anyone receiving a six million dollars bonus for being fired!  We live in a society that doesn’t remember what you have done for me but one that asks what are you going to do for me right now?  The days of appreciation and thankfulness seem to be history!  To me, that’s sad!

Speaking of football, if Tim Tebow is reading this post – I feel that he may should consider a three day “fast” from the sport and that fast should begin this Friday and end Sunday!  I am a Tim Tebow fan but. . .

Anyone interested in a possible skiing trip needs to contact me via e-mail – yesterday!

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

One thing that has been on my heart lately is the idea that so many of us are playing games with God. I know that there are several areas (10 to be exact) of my life that God has brought to my mind where I have been giving God lip-service not life service. In my Bible studies lately God has brought to my mind several very ugly habits or games I have been playing and while I know God has a sense of humor He don’t play no games with sin and even though sporting events, computer games and video games are so much a part of our lives today once again God don’t play no games with sin! So much of what you had to say Sunday, Brother Teddy, were things that God had been preparing my heart for while I was doing Bible study last week. (God is soooo good he actually orchestrated Sunday’s service!) In fact for the past 6 months God has been working in my life to uncover my secret sins because God don’t play no hide-and-seek games. Have you ever seen the game in an arcade called “Whack a Mole?” So many of us have been playing “Whack a Mole” with sin in our lives. In “Whack a Mole” you stand in front of the arcade game that looks like a garden plot and try to hit the moles with a mallet when they pop up out of the game. Of course they pop up kind of slow at first and you can usually bop them on the head and score points. However the moles after a while start to come a little faster and pop up in unexpected places and pretty soon the moles are popping up so fast and unexpectedly that you can not hit all of them and they kind of take over the game. Kind of like sin in our lives isn’t it? At first we try to take care of it ourselves and it might even not look to bad. We have a little sin here and a little sin there but nobody seems to notice so we keep playing the game. Pretty soon though the Devil starts to throw us a few curve balls or we have moles (sins) popping up in unexpected places. We start to feel a little uncomfortable, maybe begin to sweat a little, because this game of life we are playing is not going as we had planned. So we start to play a litter faster and maybe pound that mole (sin) head a little harder. Now we are really sweating and at least on the inside at we are beginning to fall apart at the seams. And what do we do? Keep playing the game or do we throw up the mallet and yell “I give up God I can’t play this game any more.” Because when you finally give up the game and cry out to God you will really find out that God don’t play no games with sin and we can’t win a game with sin in our lives. I don’t know about you but I sure hope that “Whack a Mole” (sin) is not a spectator sport in Heaven!
