THURSDAY, 9/19/13

Shawn Burwell will have a heart cath today.  Pray for him.

I failed to mention Jerry & Sierra’s brother, Eddie, and his surgery in yesterday morning’s post.  However, I did pray for him in my prayer time and throughout the day.  He did well through his surgery and was placed in a regular room versus ICU following the surgery.

I have not heard anything from Chris & Courtney so I “assume” that she will be giving birth today.  I am excited for Chris & Courtney and their first child.

Janice & Juanita’s mother has shown a little improvement.   Miss Joyce Davie remains about the same.

Rob Nevin’s mother has spent a few days in the hospital but is scheduled to be moved a facility today.

We will observe the ordinance of baptism as a part of this Sunday’s evening service.  Candidates should meet in the church office at 5;30PM.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 9/18/13

As far as I know, there are no significant changes in those folks for whom we have been praying.

We are on a regular schedule this morning and evening.  The menu for the 7:30PM Bible study with our college age folks is pizza.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 9/17/13

I mistakenly wrote yesterday that Betty Clair’s Aunt Helen was to have surgery in Birmingham.  She did have surgery but it was in Montgomery.  (Caryn Hyatt can lead one astray!)  Miss Helen did well through her surgery.

Brenda Timberlake’s mother, Miss Joyce, has been hospitalized.

Janice & Juanita’s mother remains hospitalized and I assume in ICU.

I have not heard a definitive word about Miss Arlene Crawley’s prospective surgery but Tyrone will let me know.

Shawn Burwell will have a heart cath on Thursday.

Emogene Riviere and Miss Parker (Lindsey Vice) continue to battle against their respective cancer.

There will be GROW visitation tonight  beginning at 6:30PM.

We are on a regular schedule tomorrow morning and evening.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 9/16/13 UPDATED

Tony Barnes was taken to the hospital yesterday afternoon as he was experiencing chest pains.  After examination, they sent him home and said his pain was due to a cracked rib or two from a fall earlier in the week.  Upped his pain meds.  Peggy just sent me an update on his condition.  Glad he is well.

Betty Clair’s Aunt Helen also took a fall over the weekend.  It is my understanding that she broke a hip and was scheduled to possibly have surgery in Birmingham yesterday.

I forgot to mention that Adrianna Arriola and Alexus Blackwell both came forward for baptism in last night’s service.  We will baptize again this Sunday evening as a part of our service.

Blessings!

MONDAY, 9/16/13

We were blessed with another wonderful day in our services yesterday.  We welcomed Raja & Lucretia into our fellowship by transfer of letter.  What a joy to see five folks stir the baptismal waters as a part of the evening service.  (Thanks to Bill Kendrick for the assist)  God gives the increase and we continue to give Him the glory.

Numerically, we were good with just under 500 in the morning services and a little over 200 in the evening service.  Yes, there is room for improvement but I am grateful for those who are faithful.

Our deacons met last and elected officers for this church year.  Here they are:  chairman – Sonny Bates, vice-chairman – Carl Ray Moulds, and secretary Bill Kendrick.

Janice Smith & Juanita Gulley’s mother, Miss Mazie Wilson, is in ICU.  Her problem relates to her heart.

Courtney Cavin’s nephew, Connor, remains hospitalized.  Courtney will give birth at some point this week to baby Christalina.

Tyrone & Michael Crawley’s mother, Miss Arlene, could possibly have surgery later this week.

Lindsey Vice’s maternal grandmother and Emogene Riviere are both in a tough fight with cancer.

Was I worried when Bama fell behind by 14 to A&M?  Serious?  I knew we had them right where we wanted them or something like that.   I told you that Auburn would beat State.  Bama has now played one good defense (VT) and a tremendous offense.  They will not see another offense like that in the regular season.  Folks, a win is a win and I was happy to see Bama leave Texas with a “W” in their pocket.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 9/13/13

The senior adults will finish their trip home today.  Pray they will have uneventful travels.

Heard from Brenda Poiroux yesterday afternoon.  The source of her pain is a pinched nerve.  Medication and therapy will hopefully cure the problem.

Bill Kendrick posted his contact information in the comment section of yesterday’s entry if any men are interested in the apologetics conference.

Sunday will mark the halfway point of September ’13 and we have had a “light” response to signing up for next year’s Summer GRACE Ministries trips.  This is not uncommon as members of the Friendship family tend to wait until the last minute and beyond to sign up. Just a reminder that these trips will open to others beginning October 1.  Sign up forms are in the foyer of the auditorium.

We will observe the ordinance of baptism as a part of our worship service this Sunday night, 9/15.  Baptismal candidates should meet at 5:30PM in the church office.

Speaking of the church office, we should be ready to move into the new office suite within the next couple of weeks.  I have a specific target date in mind and will announce it once I learn it is attainable.

Lord willing, I will be preaching in all three services this Sunday.  I hope to be joined by many members of the Friendship family.

Plan on watching some college football tomorrow.  Will Bama beat A&M?  I sure hope so.  I know Arnold Ross & Chuck are not going to like this but I think AU will beat MSU tomorrow night.  I also think the Mississippi Black Bears are going to dispose of the Longhorns.

It is almost 4:00AM and Lisa is pushing me out the door to Wal Mart.  The weed eater and mower await daylight.  It should be a long day.  Hopefully, it will be a productive one.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 9/12/13

Caroline Ford was discharged from the hospital early yesterday afternoon.  The doctors did not discover the cause of her physical problems.

I was told late last night that Lindsey Vice’s maternal grandmother, Miss Parker, was not doing well.  She is battling cancer.

Brenda Poiroux was scheduled to see her doctor yesterday afternoon to see if they could diagnose the source of her pain.  I have not talked to her since that visit.

Courtney Cavin’s nephew, Connor, will be admitted to the hospital today.

Janice Smith’s sister, Emogene Riviere, is not doing well in her battle against cancer.  Also, Janice’s mother, Miss Wilson, is believed to have had a stroke.  She will be taken to the hospital today.

Carlton Brouwer from Michigan passed from this life on Tuesday night around 10:30PM our time.  He and his wife, Lorraine, live in Michigan and were wonderful supporters of GRACE Ministries along with a good number of their family members.  Pray for the Brouwer family as they walk through this valley with a visitation tomorrow and a service on Saturday morning.

The senior adults will begin the trip home today.  I was thinking they were driving the entire way tomorrow but Bro. Jerry shared differently in last night’s service.  They will drive some of the way today and then the rest tomorrow.  Pray for their safety in travel.

Bill Kendrick is going to attend an apologetics conference in North Carolina the weekend of October 11 – 12, 2013.  Any other man interested in joining him needs to contact him immediately.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 9/11/13

As I did last year on this date, I simply ask that you pray for those who lost loved ones twelve years ago today.  Pray for our first responders.  Pray for our nation.

TUESDAY, 9/10/13 (UPDATE II)

Trish Blackwell sent me an e-mail saying that Kent Blaylock had a port put in place yesterday and will soon begin receiving chemotherapy treatments.

Also, her mom, Carolyn Blaylock, continues to have some difficulties in her recovery from her heart surgery.

Keep Kent & Carolyn in your prayers.  Thanks!

TUESDAY, 9/10/13 (UPDATED)

Little did I know when I posted this morning about the Friendship family not having anyone in the hospital that Caroline Ford was indeed a patient (I am thinking mental ward!).  She had a heart cath late morning and is showed no problems (it did prove that she has a heart which I had my doubts).  This is good news but she still has a root of her problems and they do not know what it is.

James Dempster worked with Marisa Felps in the auto parts store.  He passed from this life yesterday afternoon.  The visitation with his family will take place tomorrow night from 5:00 – 8:00PM at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.  The graveside service will take place on Thursday from Pinecrest on DIP.

Bro. Jerry shared with me this morning that Brenda Poiroux got sick while on the trip with the senior adults.  It is my understanding that she and Gerald are headed home today.

Pray for all three of these needs.
