THURSDAY, 7/3/14

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 22:3-23:30 Acts 21:37-22:16 Psalm 1:1-6 Proverbs 18:11-12

Visited with Robert Baria yesterday.  He was basically out of it due to his pain medication but did speak briefly (very) to me.  He will not remember my visit.  The problem with his ankle is gout.  Not good but it could have been something much worse.

Learned last night in prayer meeting that Amy Huhn’s father has undergone two surgeries in recent days.  Amy is on my list now because she did not let me know!

Brenda Anderson, BJ Bosarge’s sister, is also in the hospital.  She is battling cancer and is not doing well.

Deidra posted another entry on the GRACE blog yesterday with video and pictures.

The church office is closed today.  I will be out and about and plan on visiting Robert in the hospital.  You can call me in the case of an emergency.  Lisa leaves for Guatemala early tomorrow morning so I will be home alone for the weekend.

The USA is not a soccer nation!  Probably never will be. Zero to zero – are you serious?  The World Cup made it socially “cool” to watch soccer.  See how many folks watch MLS or the European leagues – about seven!  Folks like Soy & Chris are simply bandwagon fans.  They will crawl back into the woodwork now that the USA team lost.  As a matter of fact, neither of them can even spell soccer!

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 7/2/14

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 20:1-22:2 Acts 21:18-36 Psalm 150:1-6 Proverbs 18:9-10

Robert Baria was having an x-ray yesterday when I visited the hospital.  I was able to visit with Rose Anne, Kevin & Heather and they told me Robert was doing good minus some pain in one of his ankles.  I plan on seeing him today.

I learned yesterday that Rita Padilla Broome’s maternal grandmother passed away this past weekend.  Pray for her family.

We are on a regular schedule this morning and evening.  There is one exception to the regular schedule as the 7:30PM Bible study at the house will not take place.  That will resume at some point in August.

The men who are serving on the ad hoc committee dealing with the storm water drainage are asked to meet tonight immediately following the service.  You will meet in the office.

The church office will be closed tomorrow and will reopen on Monday morning, 7/7 at 8:00AM.  I do not know the plans of the other staff members but I do know that I will be in town, Lord willing, all weekend and available in case of any emergency.  House number is 865 4912 and office number which goes to my e-mail is 445 5416.

Only one service this weekend – Sunday at 10:30AM.  Nothing else.

Bro. Chris takes his lunch break late yesterday in order to go home and watch soccer – really?  Did I read correctly that the score was zip to zip after ninety plus minutes of play?  Wow, I hate that I missed that one – what excitement!  Please!

Lisa and I have been married for thirty four years.  Monday morning she cooks me a fried egg for breakfast.  So? Problem is that I do not really like eggs but if I am going to eat one then make it scrambled – not fried, boiled, deviled, angeled, et cetera!  She has never seen me eat a fried egg!  Why did she fry one on Monday?  May I simply say that it will never happen again!  (As Dub Ladnier would say, “my wife, my stove wood, my business!)  Something like that!  LOL!

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 7/1/14

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 18:13-19:37 Acts 21:1-7 Psalm 149:1-9 Proverbs 18:8

Robert Baria’s surgery went well.  The doctor’s concern was possible paralysis but Robert had movement in his feet after awaking from the surgery.  I suspect he will remain hospitalized for two or three more days.

Deidra posted an entry on the GRACE blog yesterday complete with pictures.  You will need some flexibility to view two of the pictures but it works!

Thank God for the Supreme Court’s decision yesterday regarding “closely held” corporations such as Hobby Lobby.  IMO, it is a major victory!  Any victory such as this, large or small, is important in today’s culture.

We are on a regular schedule tomorrow morning and evening.  The church office is closed on Thursday, 7/3, in observance of Independence Day.

I mowed our front grass last Thursday afternoon.  Mowed it again yesterday afternoon and then had to rake hay!  It was hotter at 5:00PM than it was at 5:30AM when I was in the pea patch.  Yes, Summer is here and Mr. Humidity came with it!  (Actually, he never leaves!)

Rusty & C are our neighbors, I think.  I have never seen them outside.  I do know that when the mower starts their blinds automatically close and the lights go off – pretty amazing!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus as we begin the second half of 2014 – wow!
