MONDAY, 3/23/15 (SECOND ENTRY)

Just got a call from Becky Sellers as she had finished her appointment with the oncologist.  They will do chemotherapy (starting date TBD), then radiation, then finish the chemotherapy.  The oncologist believes that will be all that Becky will need.  Join me in praying big regarding this matter!

A team of nine men led by Any Hamil went to Max Peacock’s house this morning and did a major yard clean up/mowing job.  What a great ministry by these men.  Sammy Bowden, Bobby Broome, Ross Hatcher, Stan Hatcher, Danny Lewis, Carl Ray Moulds, Phil Sims and Bobby Stork are to be congratulated on a job well done!  I so appreciate these men and their willingness to serve the Lord by serving others!  What a blessing!

Sunday, 3/29 – Deuteronomy 11:1-12:32 Luke 8:22-39 Psalm 70:1-5 Proverbs 12:4

Wow, another really good day in our services.  I have already gotten comments and electronic messages from folks (Rhoda included) expressing what God did for them in the evening service.  The Spirit of God moved in our midst and for that I am very grateful!  The attendance in our evening service was strong again.  Thank you for being faithful!

Randall did an outstanding job singing “O What A Savior” during the morning services yesterday.  I so appreciate him doing this for me/us these past three Sundays.  The song, “At The Cross” is one that is allowing us to worship as a church family while expressing our thanksgiving to Jesus.  Good stuff!  BTW, it will be Randall and friends this Sunday morning singing “O What A Savior!”

I will visit Max Peacock today to get an update on his condition.  There was initially some talk of him going home today but I think that probably will not be the case.  Needs to get rid of some fluid first.

Junior Bosarge’s mother is in ICU.  She suffered a stroke on Saturday afternoon while in the hospital.  I spoke to Anna Carol late yesterday afternoon and she was better.

Dave Sellers’ mother was admitted to the hospital yesterday.  She is having breathing issues.

Becky Sellers sees the doctor today.

A group of eight or nine men are gathering this morning to do some ministry work.  I will update you on this ministry in tomorrow’s entry.  I appreciate these men and their willingness to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Phase one of the asphalt work should begin today.  Folks, it has taken us about one year to get to this point.  I appreciate Larry Whitehurst and the men who have spearheaded this project.  They have done a nice job.  Phase one is scheduled to be finished before Good Friday which is April 3, 2015.  Please bear with us as it could cause a few “changes” in parking this Wednesday and Sunday.

Griefshare meets tonight from 6:00 – 8:00PM.

Prayer meeting tomorrow night from 5:00 – 7:00PM.  I fully expect that to be our highest attended prayer meeting up to this point.  Come and go.  Come and stay.  Just pray.  There is power in partnership prayer!  “The people were together praying!”

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SUNDAY, 3/22/15

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 33:40-35:34 Luke 5:12-28 Psalm 65:1-13 Proverbs 11:23

Visited with Max Peacock yesterday afternoon.  Once again, he looked better than I have seen him look since his surgery.  He was sitting in a chair.  He is retaining fluid so they are now giving him medication to help eliminate that problem.  His spirits are better!  Keep praying!

Thank you to those who attended the visitation and/or service for June’s mother yesterday.  Good crowd.  Good service.  Keep praying for the Shofner family.

Regular schedule this morning and tonight.  In hopes that many members of the Friendship family will be in attendance.

Asphalt work begins tomorrow.  May be some parking “limitations” this Wednesday and next Sunday.  Please excuse us and bear with us as we work to improve our parking lots.  Thank you for understanding.

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.  Go to church!

SPECIAL THANK YOU!

At 8:30AM today the sod (11 pallets) had all been put in place as a great group of guys showed up and got it done in a hurry!  Special thanks to project coordinator Tyrone Crawley and the following men – Chris Cavin, Will Reynolds, Eddie Albritton, Phillip Turner, Rusty Suthoff, Ryan Hatcher, Dave Sellers, John Ladnier and Bob Evans.

Tim Knighten and his sidekick, Pablo, showed up at 8:00AM to do some much needed concrete work.  So, a special thanks goes to them also.

The Friendship family is very blessed to have such willing workers.  They always respond to the call.  I am proud to be the pastor of such wonderful folks!

BTW, the asphalt work is scheduled to begin this Monday, 3/23.  Supposed to be finished before Good Friday.  Praise the Lord!

SATURDAY, 3/21/15

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 32:1-33:39 Luke 4:31-5:11 Psalm 64:1-10 Proverbs 11:22

Help needed – we will be laying sod at the church beginning at 8:00AM today.  This will finish the drainage project that began months ago.  Any, and all, help will be appreciated this morning.  I really appreciate all that Tyrone Crawley has done to lead this project.

The visitation with the Marie Shofner family takes place today at First Baptist Dawes beginning at 1:30PM until the 3:00PM service time.  Pray for Miss June Strickler and the family during this time.

Miss Lillian Brinkman came home from the hospital yesterday.  She is doing well.

I did not visit with Max yesterday but am going by the “no news is good news” philosophy.  I have plans to visit him at some point today.

I spent a large part of yesterday afternoon planting the garden.  Charles laid the rows off yesterday morning and then Soy ran the planter.  Only planted seeds and hope to plant some plants at some point next week.  Praying the Lord’s blessings on it!

Soy did a ton of mowing yesterday afternoon while I finished the garden.  I only had to do some push mowing and weed eating in the late afternoon.  I appreciate his help as it put me ahead for today with the work day at the church followed by the funeral service.  BTW, he killed two snakes while mowing.  I guess they were enjoying the hot temperatures.  What kind of snake?  Soy said boa constrictor?

Regular schedule tomorrow morning and evening.  Lord willing, I will be preaching in all three services.  Hope to be joined by many members of the Friendship family.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 3/20/15

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 30:1-31:54 Luke 4:1-30 Psalm 63:1-11 Proverbs 11:20-21

Mis June Stickler’s mother, Miss Marie Shofner, passed from this life into Heaven late yesterday afternoon.  The Shofner family has lost a great member as has First Baptist Church of Dawes.  The arrangements will be completed this morning but the expectation is that everything will take place tomorrow, 3/21.  I will post those as soon as I know them.  Pray for Miss June and the Shofner family.

Miss Lillian Brinkman did well through her surgical procedure yesterday.  They kept her in the hospital overnight but she should be discharged this morning.  Miss Lillian is a sweetheart and she is one tough lady!

Max Peacock was moved out of SICU yesterday.  I have visited Max often since his surgery on 2/27 and he looked better to me yesterday than he has since surgery.  He is not jumping any fences but he is making steps toward recovery.  Praise the Lord!

Still blessed by Carla’s scan results.

We can use some able bodied folks to help lay sod in the morning.  We plan to begin at 8:00AM.  There is a chance of rain but we will simply work through it unless it just gully washes.  Need more information?  Contact me via e-mail.

Regular schedule on Sunday morning and evening.  Lord willing, I will be preaching in all three services.  We continue to focus on “O What A Savior!”  Come join us!

Amy Reynolds “helps” coach the t-ball team Titus is on.  For the first couple of games she has been the third base coach.  No more as she was relieved of her duties and relegated to the dugout last night.  (That Wesley is a smart head coach)  Now, if Jack Lastorka would just do something about that “umpire” Pee Wee!  Did he miss any calls last night?  Folks, the man cannot call a hog!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

CARLA’S SCAN RESULTS

Here is what the doctor sent to Carla via text this morning – “Looks good no explanation for swelling”  Praise the Lord!

Folks, thank you for praying big!  God can!

I am still convinced that it is meanness trying to escape as I have known Carla all of her life!

THURSDAY, 3/19/15

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 28;16-29:40 Luke 3:23-38 Psalm 62:1-12 Proverbs 11:18-19

We had not had a “potluck with the pastor” in some time.  Yesterdays “pwtp” went extremely well.  Lisa, with a major assist from Marisa Felps, Kayla Hatcher and Daphne Hutto, did an excellent job of hosting the meal.  Thank you to those four ladies for a job very well done!  Thank you to each person who brought food as it was a spread – awesome!  We have two more “pwtp” planned – April 15 (roast) and May 20 (fish fry).

Carla Felps Kyser has swelling in her neck area.  Not sure why.  A CT scan was done yesterday and Carla should get the results today.  Join me in praying that it is nothing serious.  Pray big!

Lillian Brinkman is scheduled to have a pace maker implanted at some point this afternoon.  Pray that all goes well.

Max was basically the same yesterday when I visited.  He remains in SICU.  He is discouraged.  Pray that God will give him more optimism regarding his situation.  I will be visiting him this afternoon.

I was told last night that the plans are to move Miss June’s mother from the hospital back to the rehab center today.  I do not think those plans are set in stone.

Joey Switzer’s mother did well through her surgery yesterday.  She is recovering at home.  (Amy’s mother is doing well too)

There is a court case today in India regarding Ross & Betty Clair’s daughter.  If all goes well, they will be able to make arrangements to go bring her home at some point in late April.  Pray about this situation.

The visitation with the Johnny Inabinett family takes place tonight from 5:00 – 8:00PM at Serenity.  Service tomorrow at 2:00PM.

We will be laying sod at the church this Saturday morning beginning at 8:00AM.  Could use a few more hands to help.  Available?  Contact me for the details.

It is highly probable that the asphalt work on the parking lot could begin at some point next week.  The committee has settled on a contractor and agreed to financial terms with him.  If this happens, the work should be completed by Easter just like I said last year.  Yes, a year late but finished by Easter.  I never specified which Easter!

March Madness begins in earnest today.  I hope to catch some of the games but it will most likely be late tonight before that becomes a reality.  Titus has a t-ball game at 7:15PM.  I will go ahead and predict that umpire Pee Wee will make at least three mistakes in that game!  (If Coach Saban knew what type umpire Pee Wee is, he would not let him be the first caller each week!)

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.
