TUESDAY, 8/25/15

Today’s Bible reading – Job 16:1-19:29 1 Corinthians 16:1-24 Psalm 40:1-10 Proverbs 22:1

Miss Mary Jackson remains in the hospital.  Hopefully, she will be discharged tomorrow.  She is so ready to get out of the hospital.

Miss Doris was kept in the hospital Sunday.  I was unaware of that but will visit her this morning.  She was taken by ambulance from our second morning service on Sunday (my preaching can have that effect on folks!).

Brian Amonett is in a regular hospital room.  I was able to meet him yesterday when I visited.  He is thankful for the prayer support.  He was set to begin hyperbaric wound care yesterday.

Miss Johnson (Tommy’s mother) was discharged from the hospital yesterday afternoon.  She was a happy camper!

Eddie Whitmore will receive a chemo treatment today which will last until Thursday.  Obviously, this is one that comes home with him. Pray that all goes well.

Caroline Ford’s daughter, Cynthia, has been having severe pain.  She was admitted to the hospital on Saturday but discharged on Sunday.  She is scheduled to see a doctor on Thursday.

The family of Miss Exie Woods will meet with the funeral directors this morning to make arrangements for her celebration of life service.  I suspect the family of Russell Johnson will do the same if they did not do so yesterday.  I will post the arrangements for both of these once they are completed.

Prayer meeting tonight from 5:00 – 7:00PM in the auditorium.  Obviously, we did not meet last week due to the revival service and it seems like it has been an eternity to me since we last met.  Please enter/exit the West side door.  Folks, we cannot ease up on our praying.  Come and go or come and stay but do pray!

Thank you to the folks who attended the GROW visitation meeting last night.  GROW begins this coming Monday night, 8/31, at 6:30PM.  I appreciate Bro. Jerry Hovel leading that meeting.

Maria Wainwright got me three more chickens as I was down to three.  The three I had are Baptists!  (I am beginning to believe that all chickens are Baptist)  How do I know they are Baptists?  Totally not accepting the new three – will not let them eat, mad because they are trying to roost in “their” spot, et cetera.

Tried to watch some of the NFL game last night.  Totally not interested as the game was boring unless you enjoy seeing the officials throw a penalty flag on every play.  So ready for the college games to begin.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

The newest semester of GriefShare begins tonight at 6:00PM in the auditorium and ends at 8:00PM.  Open to anyone.

The newest rotation of our GROW visitation ministry begins with a meeting in the choir room tonight beginning at 6:30PM.  It would be great if each Sunday School class would have at least one representative present for this initial meeting.

Visited Miss Exie Woods yesterday afternoon.  She obviously continues to not be able to communicate but does seem to be aware of her surroundings.  Her family is lovingly waiting beside her.

Miss Mary Jackson remains in the hospital battling cellulitis.  I will visit with her today to get an update.

Miss Johnson, Tommy’s mother, also remains in the hospital trying to clear her lung of the pneumonia and to recover from her fall.

Eddie Whitmore will receive another treatment tomorrow.  This will be second one of this new type of chemo.

Carla Kyser is waiting on the neurosurgeon to schedule an appointment.  Pray that this will happen rather quickly as she continues to have back pain.

Becky Sellers was her usual positive self yesterday.

The Lord blessed us with a good day in our services yesterday.  We saw two folks follow Jesus in believers’ baptism.  The Spirit was good.  The attendance was strong.  Pastor Alex did a nice job last night of sharing about the work of PTL in India.  I thank God for another good day.

The college football season is almost upon us.  Looking forward to it and looking forward to the cooler temperatures that come with it!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SUNDAY, 8/23/47

Today’s Bible reading – Job 8:1-11:20 1 Corinthians 15:1-28 Psalm 38:1-22 Proverbs 21:28-29

Regular schedule today and tonight with the ordinance of baptism being observed in the 10:30AM and 6:00PM services.

Brian Amonett is in a regular hospital room and is making progress toward recovery.  It will be a long room but he has been blessed in many ways.  Keep praying for Brian and his family.

Lisa and I enjoyed a really nice visit with Mr & Mrs Dendy in Birmingham yesterday.  He is 93 years old and she is 90 years old.  They sit in front of us at the Alabama home football games.  What a delightful couple!

Lisa and I then traveled to Montgomery, Alabama and spent over an hour visiting with Decker & Martha Terry.  Folks, you talk about a blessing!  Decker & Martha are godly people and they are givers beyond description.  Decker gave me seven books and a brand new study Bible.  They give unselfishly to GRACE Ministries and the feeding center.  Martha is basically home bound but she is a great prayer warrior!  I am telling you that Lisa and I stopped by to maybe be a little blessing to them and we left blessed beyond measure and that has nothing to do with the things they gave us.  What they gave us cannot be measured!  Thank God for Decker & Martha Terry!

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.  Go to church!

SATURDAY, 8/22/15

Today’s Bible reading – Job 4:1-7:21 1 Corinthians 14:18-40 Psalm 37:30-40 Proverbs 21:27

Posting from Birmingham.  Sorry this entry is late.  Literally have not been online since around 5:15AM or so yesterday morning.

Regular schedule tomorrow morning and evening.  I am praying that we will see the results of revival.

Baptism in the 10:30AM and 6:00PM services.

No updates on those in the hospital or those battling cancer.

Lisa and visited Pat Patterson in Rainbow City, AL yesterday – delightful time.  We were able to stop by and see Pastor Abel Garcia’s church.  Luckily for us, Lynne was there while Pastor Abel was not.  Which one do you think I had rather see?  Nice guess!

We drove to Decatur, AL last night and enjoyed supper with my parents, sister and her husband, niece, great nephew and two babies that I do not have a clue as to whom they belong to.  (Just trying to listen to Miss Vinnie Brewer when it comes to visiting my parents)  We enjoyed ourselves.

Here is the million dollar question – will Soy mow the grass in my absence?

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 8/21/15

Today’s Bible reading – Job 1:1-3:26 1 Corinthians 14:1-17 Psalm 37:12-29 Proverbs 21:25-26

Mary Jackson was much better yesterday.  The doctor came in as I was leaving so I do not know what he told her.  She was thinking she would be in the hospital a couple more days.

Miss Johnson is battling pneumonia and some soreness from a fall.  She will remain in the hospital until the pneumonia is cleared up and some of the soreness leaves.

Miss Exie Woods was not having a good day yesterday.  The doctors feel that she is near the end of her life.  I believe Betty told me that she will be 95 on November 4.  (I may be a year off as she may be 94 on 11/4)

Brian Amonett was moved to a regular hospital room yesterday.  He has been in a unit for such a long time.  The family is very grateful and happy.  Still a long way to go.

We need to keep praying for Russell Johnson (Liz Whalen), Eddie Whitmore, Becky Sellers, Carla Kyser and Lisa Thompson.  Of course, these are just a few of the folks on our prayer list who are battling cancer.

Regular schedule this Sunday morning and evening.  We will baptize in the 10:30AM and 6:00PM services.

We will celebrate our sixty eighth anniversary as a church family on November 8.  (Actual date is 11/9)  We will do something this year that we have never done before.  I began rolling that ball yesterday and will continue to do so this weekend.

Lisa and I plan to leave early today and go on a road trip.  We are going to visit a friend (R.B. “Pat” Patterson) in Gadsden, other friends (Mr & Mrs Dendy) in Birmingham and one more couple (Terry & Martha Decker) in Montgomery.  We will be back tomorrow afternoon, Lord willing.

Dana, Gina and a host of others being college at Harvard on the Highway today.  Wow, where does the time go?  Amazing!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 8/20/15

Today’s Bible reading – Esther 8:1-10:3 1 Corinthians 12:27- 13:13 Psalm 37:1-11 Proverbs 21:23-24

Tommy Johnson’s mother is in the hospital.  I will visit her today to get an update.

Visited Mary Jackson in the hospital yesterday.  She is dealing with cellulitis.  I thought her leg looked horrible but she told me it actually looked much better than the day before – wow!

Went to visit with Brian Amonett’s family but they had not gotten to the hospital.  Had a delightful visit with the volunteer in the waiting room.  Heard from Debbie last night and learned that Brian has had a slight setback but the doctors are not too concerned with it.  Physical therapy will eventually be a part of the plan.

Visited with Miss Exie Woods.  Her daughter, Betty, was there and we had a very good visit.  Miss Exie was having a better day yesterday after having a tough day on Tuesday.  That seems to be the norm right now.

Wendy Johnston spent a week in the hospital.  I found out about it as she was being discharged.  Wendy was in the service last night.

Cecil Guidry told me that Belvin McDonald’s sister, Joyce, passed from this life in Columbia, Louisiana.  I do not know the details.

What a great service we had last night!  We saw three more salvation decisions.  The spirit was excellent.  The attendance was the best of the revival.  The offering was amazing!  I thank God for how He used Wade Morris during these past four days.  To God be the glory great things He has done!  Hallelujah!

Wade and I talked briefly last night about next year.  We will pray and see what God has in store.  It is obvious that the Friendship family (and others) enjoy his ministry.

My prayer is that our focus will remain on revival.  Wade did not bring it with him and he did not take it with him when he left last night.  Real revival is of God.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 8/19/15

Today’s Bible reading – Esther 4:1-7:10 1 Corinthians 12:1-26 Psalm 36:1-12 Proverbs 21:21-22

Miss Mary Jackson was admitted to the hospital last night.  She has a problem with her leg that has continued to worsen.

Betty Clair sent me an e-mail last night sharing that her mother is in the hospital with pneumonia.  She has improved since being in the hospital and hopes to be discharged by the weekend.

Amy Huhn will have her procedure this morning.

As far as I know, Brian Amonett remains hospitalized in a regular hospital awaiting to be moved to a rehab facility.

Talked to John Whalen last night in the service and he shared that Liz’s Uncle Russell continues to decline.

Another wonderful service last night with four salvation decisions – praise the Lord!  The Spirit was excellent and the attendance was very strong again.  Once again, our choir did a very nice job of filling the choir loft and singing the call to worship.

It was really good seeing families sit together last night in the service.  Three were saved because a family member invited them to the service.  Real simple concept!

I was blessed to see Pastor Jeff Switzer, Evangelist James Messer, Pastor Lance Nicholson and Dr. Aias de Souza join us for the service last night.

Tonight, it is up to the members of the Friendship family to fill the house.  It is also up to the members of the Friendship family to sow financially into the ministry given to Wade Morris by the Lord.  Pray, attend and bring others with you.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 8/18/15 (SECOND ENTRY)

One thing I forgot to post on my earlier re-entry is that Brian Amonett was moved from New Orleans back to Mississippi yesterday.  It is possible that he could be moved to a physical rehabilitation facility as early as today.  Things have moved very quickly with him.  Keep praying.

Liz Whalen also posted a comment on the earlier post saying that her Uncle Russell is not doing well.  Please keep him and the family in your prayers.
