SATURDAY, 9/21/19

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (Psalm 119:11)

Brooke Whitehurst was discharged from the hospital yesterday.  She and Curtis are grateful for the prayer support and ask that you keep praying.

The visitation with the Charles Suthoff family takes place from 10:00AM until 12:00PM today.  The celebration of life service begins at noon.  If you are helping with the food for the meal, please have it in the Preschool Building no later than 11:00AM.  Pray for the Suthoff family.

I do want to say that Bernard & Pattie have been most gracious to me and I am very grateful.

Regular schedule for the Friendship family tomorrow morning and evening.  Lindsey Vice and Bro. Abel will host a meeting at 5:00PM in the auditorium for those interested in learning more about our something “different” this year in regard to the Hallelujah Festival.  AWANA ministry at 5:00PM.

Faith Academy, Mobile Christian, Resurrection, Theodore and UMS all won last night.  Bryant was on the short end of the scoreboard to Theodore.

The Braves clinched the NL East last night.  Pastor Wes Bates’ beloved Cubbies are struggling right now.  Bobby and the boys continue to be in good shape for the Wild Card game.  Houston has won 101 games and would have to be considered the strongest candidate to win it all because of their pitching.  However, the Yankees can hit!

Looking forward to a good day of college football.  The Auburn vs A&M game may be the best one of the day.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 9/20/19

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (Psalm 119:11)

Did you hear the shout around 1:00PM yesterday?  That was me when the rains began to fall on this hill.  I thought it would be a quick shower but we got rain until around 7:30PM.  Thank you Lord!

Visited with Wanda Jordan in the hospital yesterday morning.  She was doing better and was discharged yesterday afternoon.

Visited Brooke Whitehurst in the hospital too.  She thought she was going to be discharged but that did not happen.  Maybe today.

Rene & Bethany (nee Hatcher) Alcantara welcomed a son into this world yesterday.  I do not know any of the details as the hospital told me Bethany was not a patient.  I may have gotten there before them.  Pray for Bethany and the baby.

Visitation with the Suthoff family tomorrow morning beginning at 10:00AM until the noon service time.  Pray for the family.

Bryant hosts Theodore tonight; Faith hosts Citronelle; UMS travels to Clark County; Mobile Christian travels to Thomasville; Resurrection travels to Mt. Olive.  The Citronelle vs FA game has the potential to be the best of the bunch tonight.

The Braves can clinch the NL East with a win tonight.  Bobby & the boys continue to lead the Wild Card chase.  The Cubs have a rough home stretch because of the Cards.  The Indians have tied the Rays for the second AL Wild Card spot.  Going to be an interesting finish in both leagues.

Regular schedule on our campus this Sunday morning and evening.  Lindsey Vice and Bro. Abel will host a meeting in the auditorium at 5:00PM concerning our Trail of Truth.  AWANA ministry at 5:00PM.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 9/18/19

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (Psalm 119:11)

Received word from Pattie Suthoff this morning that Charles Suthoff has passed from this life.  Charles loved the Lord and was prepared to leave this earthly world.  Pray for the family as they walk through this valley.

Brooke Whitehurst will have a test done today to try and figure out the source of her problems.  Continue to pray for her.

Received word last night that our friend from Mountain Brook, Mr. Lavelle Dendy, has passed from this life.  He was ninety seven years old.  His wife of seventy five years just passed on July 29.  She was ninety four years of age.  It seemed fairly obvious that once Miss Berenice was gone that Mr. Lavelle would soon follow.  Pray for their two daughters and their families.

Regular schedule on our campus this morning and evening.

I took Lisa to the Mobile airport this morning where she caught a flight to Atlanta and will then connect to a flight going to Guatemala City.  This Sunday, 9/22, will be Audrey’s birthday so Lisa has gone to celebrate with her.  She told me that she will be back when she gets back – whatever that means!

Any of our thirteen readers need any fire wood?  You will have to cut it up and haul it.  It is in Grand Bay.  Contact me if you want to know the details.

Bobby & the boys got a big win last night to go back up by a game and a half in the wild card race.  It is now a three team race or so it seems.  Come on Nationals!

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 9/17/19

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (Psalm 119:11)

Happy forty third wedding anniversary to my brother, Eddie, and his wife, Sue.  They married young and have been a great example of a godly couple.  I think they are going to Hardee’s for lunch to celebrate!  Hope their day in Ohio is great!

Charles Suthoff is seemingly near the end of his physical life on earth.  Pray for Charles, his family and those providing care for him.

Brooke Whitehurst is in the hospital battling blood pressure problems.  Pray for Brooke.

Regular schedule on our campus tomorrow morning and evening.

Bobby and the boys lost last night and are making me a little nervous concerning the wild card spot.  The Nationals, Cubs and Brewers are all in the race for those two spots.  Come on Nationals!  By the way, speaking of the Nationals –  “There are a lot of reasons, because there are a lot of talented players on this team. But allow us to shine a light on something you might not have thought about so much: A year after Washington’s outfield defense was a clear weakness, it’s now a massive strength. They rank No. 1 in Outs Above Average, the Statcast measure of outfield quality. They’ve had the largest year-over-year improvement in the four years that the metric has existed. They have the largest gap a first-place team has had over a second-place team. They’ve been … outstanding.”  Anyone care to guess who is coaching the outfielders this year?  Bobby Henley!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus!  (It is Taco Tuesday!)

MONDAY, 9/16/19

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (Psalm 119:11)

Bernard Suthoff’s brother, Charles, is not doing well physically.  Pray for him.

We were blessed with another good day in our services yesterday – morning and evening.  I hear that the numbers in our AWANA ministry were, once again, good but I do not have the exact numbers.  I did see some crazy socks!

I mistakenly said in the 8:00AM message yesterday that Caleb was eighty years old when he entered the Promised Land.  He was actually eighty five years old (Joshua 14:10).  I then failed in the evening message to mention Ahithophel as the other person in the Bible who took his own life (II Samuel 17:23).  Aninha Barrett gets credit for pointing out these two things to me.  I appreciate it.

The weather forecasters are saying it is going to be hot for the next ten days.  They do give a glimmer of hope that we could get some rain on Thursday.  The good thing is that the humidity is forecast to be in the fifties and sixties which helps.

Bobby and the boys are close (four games) to elimination in the NL East.  It appears they will definitely be in the wild card game.  Win that and, as it stands now, they would head to LA for a divisional series.  The Dodgers need to win seven in order to clinch home field advantage through the NL championship series.

The college football season will get a bit more intense beginning this Saturday.  Alabama has the breakfast game!  Auburn has a big one at A&M.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SUNDAY, 9/15/19

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (Psalm 119:11)

Regular schedule on our campus this morning and evening.

Crazy sock day for our AWANA ministry.

We had a really effective work day yesterday.  The number of workers was sixteen or seventeen.  Those folks came ready to work and got it done in a hurry.  Did a very nice job too!  Thank you to each person who helped!

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.

SATURDAY, 9/14/19

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (Psalm 119:11)

Our work day begins at 8:00AM today.  I now know that at least one of our deacons is going to be present as he shared that information with me last night.  Will he be working or drinking coffee?  Time will tell.  With the right numbers present, we can be gone fairly quickly and leave the place looking good.  We need hedge trimmers, ladders, rakes, et cetera.  “All hands on deck!”  We will have water but no food!  Just FYI.

Regular schedule on our campus tomorrow morning and evening.  Lord willing, I will be in the pulpit for all three services.  It will be “crazy sock night” for our AWANA ministry tomorrow.  Obviously, the children are encouraged to wear crazy socks to AWANA.

South hosts Memphis today beginning at 2:30PM, Alabama travels to South Carolina with a 2:30PM start time, and Auburn hosts Kent State with a 6:00PM start time.  I am going to say that two of those three state teams will win.  It would be nice if all three could do so.  That is why they play the game!

Coach Collier and the Bobcats handled the Pirates last night to remain undefeated for the season.  The Faith Academy Rams bested the Mobile Christian Leopards as the Lacy kid ran wild all night (300 yards rushing, 32 points).  Resurrection High won big last night.  Bryant lost to Foley.  (It is interesting to note that Bryant has never beaten Foley)

I am sure it has happened but I have never been to a high school game where one of the head coaches leads in the opening prayer until last night.  Coach Jack French of Faith Academy did the honors before the FA vs MC game.  Not only did he do the honors but he also prayed a very strong prayer.  Way to go, Coach French.  Way to go Mobile Christian for asking the opposing coach to pray.

Deacon Grant Tillman and his family sat by me during last night’s game.  I was good with that until he asked me to “spot” him a twenty.  Are you kidding me?  Do I look like an ATM?  However, Katie is such a sweetheart that I simply overlook her husband. (So glad she is not like her mother!)

One more thing about last night’s game – Hannah was the star of the MC band!  Not even close!

My high school football travels will take me to Bryant next Friday night as Coach Collier and his Bobcats head into the eye of the storm as they will face the Hurricanes.

Bobby and the boys lost to the Braves last night.  I need the Nationals to win the next two to help the Dodgers maintain the best record in the NL as home field advantage could be huge in the postseason.

Leslie Hacker finally got Bob Evans moved in to his apartment.  I “think” last night was Bob’s first night there.  In my opinion, Leslie should let Bob stay with him for the first month or so just to get acclimated to living there as moving to the bayou can be an experience like no other.  (Dana Taylor & Bibbi Bosarge – get the man some white boots!)

The Simply Southern seafood restaurant is scheduled to open in the former Sam’s Superburger building on Monday, October 7.  I am going to go ahead now and encourage you to support this business.  More to come in the way of an endorsement if. . . (waiting on some type of compensation agreement!)

I had some good therapy time yesterday as I spent like four hours on the mower.  Have about another hour today and I will be finished.  Lisa went out of town yesterday but she left strict orders!

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.
