FOUR PRAYER REQUESTS

The following prayer requests came to me after I had posted today’s entry.  I am asking you to join me in prayer.

First, Bibbi Bosarge’s sister is in ICU and on a ventilator.  Was admitted with what was thought to be a stomach bug.  However, things have gone down hill quickly since then.  Critical prayer request.

Second, Linda Green has been admitted to the hospital due to a low blood count.  Pray for the medical folks to be able to get her count up.

Third, Debbie Kendrick’s surgery date has been confirmed as April 6 at 7:00AM.  She is way past ready to have this surgery done and get back to living a normal life.

Fourth, the airport in Guatemala has closed due to volcanic ash.  Pray for those who are in the path of the lava in the event of an eruption.

TUESDAY, 3/23/21

I posted the obit for Miss Cora Martin.  Keep praying for Clara and the family.  Thank you in advance to the folks who will help feed the family following the celebration of life service.  That meal will take place in our Preschool Building.

One of the things that I have not had to post in the last month or so is a prayer request for anyone from the Friendship family actively battling the virus.  Praise the Lord!  We are grateful.

Keep praying for Miss Catherine Leach.  She remains at home with Lee & Elizabeth.

Keep praying for Sonny Bates and his recovery from surgery.

Pray for Soy, Deidra and all of the folks doing ministry in Guatemala.  Next week is going to be an evangelistic week.  Pray that will be very productive in planting seeds, watering, or harvesting.

Pray for our Easter services.  Pray for Evangelist Michael Mason as he comes to bring the Word to us on that day.  As a matter of fact, why not stop right now and send Bro. Michael an email telling him you are praying for him?  Michael-mason@charter.net.  His mailing address is 606 Birdsprings Road Hartselle, AL 35640 if you would rather mail a card to him.

The rains are supposed to move in this afternoon and be here until early Thursday morning.  I am praying for safety for all those on the road today and tomorrow.  I do love the rain!

Did you notice the freshly planted flowers in front of the auditorium?  Many thanks to Gary & Rachel Walton for a job well done in getting them planted last Saturday.

Regular schedule on our campus tomorrow – morning and evening.

I am an Alabama sports fan thanks to my Uncle Herschel and Aunt Roberta.  I have followed the Alabama basketball team this season but have not watched maybe a whole game total until last night’s game which I watched in its entirety.  Good to see Alabama in the Sweet Sixteen for the first time in like seventeen years.  Can they move on?  Who knows?  They play in the Hinkle Field house and they did not play well there this past Saturday.  We shall see!  I now Jay Oakwood is pulling for the Tide!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 3/22/21

Miss Cora Martin’s family will meet with the funeral directors today to make the arrangements for the visitation and service.  Keep praying for Miss Cora’s family.

Sonny Bates was discharged from the hospital Saturday afternoon.  Pray for Bro. Sonny as he continues his recovery at home.

It is my understanding that Miss Kittie Camp has another appointment with the doctor today.  Keep praying for Miss Kittie.  By the way, she was in both services yesterday and also taught Sunday School.  Not bad for a ninety three year old lady battling health issues.  Remind me again as to why you were not in the services?

Good day in our services yesterday morning and evening.  We are thankful to the Lord!

I want to give one business and one individual credit where credit is due.  Christopher Bryan’s celebration of life service took place last Thursday.  The family needed some help with the finances related to the funeral expenses.  Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, Mississippi gave them a huge discount.  Very nice move on their part!  Franco Harris, yes, the Franco Harris of the NFL and the recipient of one of the greatest plays in the history of the NFL, learned of Chris’ passing and purchased the casket.  I am not sure of exactly how Franco learned of the situation but the funeral director confirmed to me that he did indeed pay for casket.  Nicely played Franco Harris, nicely played.

The front sidewalks at the church look amazing thanks to Kendall Falana and his power washing abilities!  Thank you Kendall for an excellent job.

Thank you to each person who took one of our “Easter” yard signs last night.  Pray for our Easter services and invite others to join you on that most special day.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

Sonny Bates had a surgical procedure yesterday to place screws in his hip.  Surgery went well.  He will be in the hospital for one or two days.  Pray for Sonny.

Yard sale begins at 7:00AM today.  Closes at 5:00PM.  Opens at 7:00AM tomorrow, closes at noon.  Auction begins at 5:00PM tomorrow.

Work day tomorrow from 8:00AM until 11:00AM.  Need to do some raking of leaves and trimming of bushes among other things.

Regular schedule on our campus this Sunday – morning and evening.

Yesterday, I received perhaps the best email message I have ever gotten.  Brought tears to my eyes.  Thank you to the sender.

God also answered a prayer yesterday.  He is good!

Gary & Rachel Walton have been regular attenders in all of our services.  You will be seeing less of Gary in the coming months – literally.  He began a diet this past Monday and lost thirteen pounds the first two days.  Awesome!  Pray for Gary to have the willpower and determination to stay focused and to keep dropping those pounds.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 3/17/21

Linda Green’s surgery was declared a success by the surgeon.  It did not take as long as originally thought which is almost always good news.  Pray that this will now help Linda in the long run.  (She still has to put up with Tina as a daughter but that cannot be helped – just saying!)

Talked to Elizabeth Sessions yesterday morning and her mother, Miss Catherine Leach, remains basically the same.  Keep praying for Miss Catherine.

Raymond Wilknson’s Aunt, Patricia E. Barnes passed from this life this past Sunday, March 14.  The visitation with the family will take place tomorrow, 3/18, from noon until the 2:00PM service time.  Visitation and service at the Masonic Lodge in Bayou La Batre.  This is Jamie’s & Carlie’s paternal grandmother.  Pray for the Barnes family.

The arrangements for Christopher Bryan are as follows: visitation with the family from noon until the 2:00PM service time.  Visitation and service will take place in our church auditorium.  Bro. Jerry Hovel will be preaching the service.  Pray for the Bryan family during this most difficult time.

The CAB (yard sale) will be closed from 1:45PM until 3:00PM tomorrow out of respect for Christopher and his family.  This will be strictly enforced with no one in the CAB during this time.

The yard sale begins in the morning at 7:00AM and lasts until 5:00PM.  Ditto for Friday and then again on Saturday morning.  The auction begins at 5:00PM on Saturday.  We need homemade cakes for the auction.

Our church wide work day takes place Saturday, 3/20, from 8:00AM until 11:00AM.  All hands on deck, please.

Folks wanting to join either of our mission teams this Summer have until March 31 to sign up.  You can do so by sending me an email at pastor@friendshipfamily.net.

Regular schedule on our campus this morning and evening.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 3/16/21

Linda Green is having an “umbrella” placed in her heart today.  Pray that all goes well and that this will do what the doctors think it will do.  Linda Green is as faithful of a church member as you will ever find.

Matt Everett sent me a text yesterday letting me know that Audrey was discharged from the hospital.  Good for her!  Keep praying that Audrey will make a complete recovery.  Thank you to Matt for being so faithful to keep me updated.

Miss Catherine Leach remains about the same.  Daphne & Ann visited there yesterday afternoon.  Keep praying.

As it stands right now, the visitation and service for Chris Bryan will take place this Thursday, 3/18, from our church auditorium.  The visitation with the family will take place from noon until the 2:00PM service time.  Pray for the family as they walk through this most difficult time.

Yard sale preparation continues all day today.  Contact Bro. Jerry for information.

Work day on our campus this Saturday, 3/20, from 8:00AM until 11:00AM.  All hands on deck!

We are having a very slow response to our two mission trips scheduled for this Summer.  The dates are June 17 – 24 and July 15 – 22.  Remember, we need folks to sign up by March 31.  Contact me via email to sign up, for more information or with questions.

Lord willing, the garden goes in the ground this week.  John Milton has the ground prepared.  I am thankful to John for his constant help.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 3/15/21

Visited with Miss Catherine Leach yesterday afternoon.  She was very coherent and we had a nice conversation.  Elizabeth is giving good care to her.  Keep praying for Miss Catherine.

Talked to Matt Everett via the phone and Audrey is doing much better.  As a matter of fact, Matt was thinking she may be discharged from the hospital today.  Keep praying.

Good day in our services yesterday.  Yes, the time change negatively affected our first service as we were down one third in our attendance from the previous Sunday.  Honestly, that surprised me.

However, our second morning service and our evening service was fairly well attended.  I am thankful for folks who are faithful.

The church approved Brandon Baker, Joey Bosarge and Bill Kendrick as deacons last night.  They will serve until December 31, 2023.  They join Rick Bradley, Jeff Holifield, Jimmy Tagert, Grant Tillman, TJ Vice and Raymond Wilkinson as our nine active deacons.  Pray for these men.

The yard sale preparation goes into full swing today.  If you can help, contact Bro. Jerry or just show up.

Pray for Evangelists Michael Mason, Johnny Tucker and Danny Long as they prepare to be with us in the coming months.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SUNDAY, 3/14/21

Elizabeth Sessions sent word yesterday that her mother, Miss Catherine Leach, is seemingly close to passing from this life.  Pray for Miss Catherine and her family.

Matt Everett sent an update on Audrey.  She remains hospitalized and they were going to test for possible pneumonia.  Keep praying for Audrey, her parents and the medical folks treating her.

Regular schedule on our campus this morning and evening.  The next wave of deacons will be presented to the church for consideration in our evening service.

Front pew shower for Marcus & Rachel Hatcher in all three services today.  Twin boys.

Items for the yard sale can be brought the CAB following tonight’s service (attendance in the service required).

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.
