SATURDAY, 11/4/23

The arrangements for Linda Green are as follows:  visitation with the family on Monday, November 6, from 1:00PM until the 3:00PM celebration of life service.  The visitation and service will take place at Serenity Funeral Home in Theodore, AL.  Members of the Friendship family who want to help with the feeding of the family should contact Rita Boutwell or Clara Broadus.  Pray for Linda’s family.

As far as I know, Willie Sprinkle had surgery on his leg yesterday.  My source has failed me on this one.  Just saying!  Keep praying for Willie!

Regular schedule on our campus tomorrow morning and evening.

Time changes tonight so “fall” back one hour before going to bed.  My favorite Sunday, time wise, of the year!  Personally, I wish they would just leave the time pieces alone!  Choose one and stick with it!

Speaking of food, we have enjoyed a great week.  It began on Monday afternoon when John Milton Ladnier showed up with a bag of freshly picked, and shelled, peas.  Are you kidding me!  What a nice surprise!  Thank you John Milton for being so generous to us!

On Thursday afternoon, Sonny & Jeanette Bates showed up with a huge meat (roast) and potatoes meal with all kinds of sides and a delicious dessert.  What a feast!  Thank you Sonny & Jeanette for a fabulous meal.

Yesterday afternoon, Stacey & Gayla Dyess showed up with a ton of chili and the fixins including Mexican cornbread.  Another feast!  Thank you Stacey & Gayla for a tremendous meal too!  (Disclaimer – Stacey is known for his barbecue but after eating at Scrugg’s in Decatur the other week he realized that he could not hang with that cook so he changed menus on me.  Just saying!)

Personally, I knew that Stacey could cook but did not realize Sonny was in that same class!

My friend, Ben Thomas of al.com has done a great job of covering the high school football regular season.  Ben writes great articles.  I was especially blessed by the one he wrote about Soy Taylor on Friday, 10/13.  On to the playoffs now and I will be following Ben’s coverage weekly.  Thank you, Ben!

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.  Change you time pieces tonight, if necessary!  (Or leave them be and come March of 2024 they will be right again)

LINDA GREEN ENTERS HEAVEN

Around 8:30AM today, Linda Green entered Heaven.  I am just now getting back to my laptop in order to share this news.  Pray for Linda’s family.

Linda had made her own funeral arrangements.  The only question right now is the “when?”  I will post the arrangements here once they are completed.

Again, pray for Linda’s family.

WEDNESDAY, 11/1/23

I wrote yesterday that Linda Green was much improved.  Not long after writing those words, I was called to say that the family had been called in.  Physically, Linda is not doing well.  Plans right now are to possibly move her to a hospice facility but all plans are fluid at this point.  Pray for Linda.  Pray for her family.  Pray for the medical folks caring for her.  Linda Green is a fine lady!

Miss Georgia Crawley is in the hospital and has been since Sunday night.  She says she is doing better.  Her son, David, told me that she could possibly be discharged in a couple of days.  Pray for Miss Georgia and family.

Bibbi’s brother is in the hospital with an injury.  Pray for all to go well for him.

Johnny Sessions was discharged from the hospital yesterday.  I had a most pleasant visit with him and Sharlene yesterday morning until Johnny hinted for me to give him a sponge bath – just saying!  Johnny & Sharlene are a great couple!  Pray for Johnny.

Regular schedule on our campus today.

Loving these cooler temperatures.  Nothing like sleeping with the windows open on a cooler night.

Time change this Sunday – hooray!

Pastor Shirlon & Jennifer Davis put their Christmas decorations up yesterday.  Are you kidding me?

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 10/31/23

Johnny Sessions had his knee replaced yesterday afternoon and all is well.  I spoke to him and he had already been up walking around.  He should be discharged this morning.  Pray for Johnny!

Linda Green was much better yesterday when I visited with her.  She was talking and asking for water.  The plans were/are to put her in a regular room as soon as one becomes available.  Keep praying for Linda!

Keep praying for Maria Wainwright in her recovery from surgery.

Please continue to pray for our friends, Kristie & John Potts, in Michigan.

Bro. Abel hosted the final time of basketball registration last night.  One hundred and seventy players are in the fold.  All leagues are maxed out!  One thing that Bro. Abel does extremely well is getting folks involved in our sports ministry.  The leagues will begin play in December and to through January.

Speaking of our sports ministry, this Saturday will bring our Fall soccer league to a close.  It has been a good league and I am thankful to each person who helped in any way.  Praise the Lord!

Regular schedule on our campus tomorrow.  Lord willing, I will be teaching in the morning and evening Bible studies in the auditorium.  Join us!

Will the CFP selection committee include Michigan in the top four tonight?  Interesting.  (I think they will)

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

Talked to one of Linda Green’s granddaughters last night and she shared that Linda’s condition was basically unchanged.  Lord willing, I will see Linda today.  Keep praying for Linda and her family.

Talked to Logan Wainwright last night and he told me that Maria was recovering nicely.  She has a long road ahead of her so keep praying.

Please continue to pray for Kristie Potts in Michigan.  Pray for her husband, John, and the rest of the family too.

We had a great day in our services yesterday.  Four baptisms in the morning service followed by three salvation decisions during the invitation.  Thank you Jesus!

The Hallelujah Festival went well with probably over five hundred in attendance.  Great spirit, lots and candy and lots of fun.  Thank you to everyone who had a part in making this a success.  To God be the glory!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 10/27/23

Happy fifty-ninth birthday to my younger brother, Freddie.  I hope he will enjoy a great day today!  Freddie is a good guy.  Probably the best of three brothers.  (Eddie is a close second and I am a distant fourth!)  Happy birthday, Freddie.

Eric Harrington’s surgery went well and he came home soon thereafter.  Eric is a fine young man.  (Eric’s surgery did not last long but it did last long enough for Leslee to get to the cafeteria so she could consume some cheese grits.  It is the small things!)

Maria Wainwright will be going into surgery this morning.  They will be repairing her left wrist.  Her faith in God is strong. Pray that all goes well.

The graveside celebration of life for Scott Pouncey will take place this afternoon in the Union Baptist cemetery beginning at 3:00PM.  Keep praying for the Pouncey family.

Regular schedule on our campus this Sunday morning.  We will be observing the ordinance of baptism during our 10:00AM service.  The baptism will come early in that service.

Our annual Hallelujah Festival will take place this Sunday, 10/29, from 4:00 – 6:00PM on the back forty.  Everyone must pass through the auditorium prior to hitting the trail.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.  Looking forward to seeing many members of the Friendship family this Sunday on our campus.

A very special recognition to Bill and Debbie Kendrick for sharing their lives with Scott and his parents for over the past 19 years, as well as Gordon and Trula McClinton, Sonja Hunter, his brother Wes, and friends, Nancy Ash and Sandy Miller and Scott’s aunt, Lynne Ishee, for all the love and support given to us and Scott before and after the accident. “Your love and dedication to our son and family has not gone unnoticed and has tremendously blessed us more than words could ever describe!” God bless each and every one of you for all that you have done for us and Scott!

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Theresa Castille, Lisa Ray-Luna, and Doug Pouncey for their loving care of Scott.
