UPDATE ON CRAIG KIRSCHENMAN

Visited with Mr. Earl, Jennifer, and Craig this morning.  Craig remains in ICU and his situation is serious.  The doctor said it like this, “Craig is very sick.  Hope for best.  Prepare for the worst”  He is septic, is on a ventilator, is being restrained, and is basically being medicated to keep him at rest.  He did open his eyes during our visit but obviously cannot talk because of the tube.  Jennifer stayed with him throughout the night and said that he never slept a bit.  A doctor early this morning said that the next 48 hours will most likely tell the story.  Pray for Craig and his family.

Visited with Rob’s mother.  It was a delightful visit.  She has a very serious infection and needs our prayers.  Keep praying, please.

TUESDAY, 5/7/13

Happy second birthday to our granddaughter, Emmy.  She is out of town, cannot read, and, if she could read, probably would not read this blog so hopefully one of the eight readers will let her know that “pop pop” wishes her well today.

The visitation with the Curl family takes place tonight from 5:00 until 8:00PM at Radney’s Funeral Home on Dauphin Street in Mobile.  The service will take place tomorrow at 10:00AM.  I will be assisting (graveside) with that service.  Pray for John and his family.

The visitation with the Kelley family takes place tomorrow afternoon from 12:30 until the 2:00PM service time.  Everything will take place in Hattiesburg, MS.  Bro. Jerry Hovel will be preaching that service.  Pray for Mr. JB and his family.

Remember, tomorrow’s 10:00AM service has been cancelled.  The evening service/activities will take place as scheduled.

Craig Kirschenman is in ICU in a local hospital.  I do not know all of the details but I did get to speak with him last night during a visit.  Pray for Craig.

Rob’s mother, Miss Barbara, potentially has some tough days ahead of her.  I plan on visiting her this morning.

Continue to pray for those battling cancer.

If you plan on attending the Mother/Daughter banquet this Thursday night, 5/9, and have not signed up already, please call the church office by 5:00PM today.  This is important!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY SERVICE CANCELLATION

Our 10:00AM service on Wednesday, 5/8, has been cancelled.  This is out of respect for Miss Edith Kelley and will allow folks who normally attend that service ample time to travel to the funeral visitation and/or service.

We WILL have our regular classes, Bible studies, et cetera on Wednesday night, 5/8.  This includes our 7:00PM service.  Those folks who normally attend the morning service are simply asked to attend the 7:00PM service this Wednesday.

Again, the only service being cancelled is the morning (10:00AM) service and that applies to this Wednesday, 5/8, only.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR MISS EDITH KELLEY

The visitation with the Edith Kelley family will take place on Wednesday, May 8, from 12:30PM until 2:00PM.  The service will begin at 2:00PM.

The visitation and service will take place from the Providence Baptist Church 1180 Eatonville Road in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  Mapquest shows the church being approximately 120 miles from our church and says it takes slightly over two hours driving time.

Continue to pray for the Kelley family as they walk through this valley.

MONDAY, 5/6/13 (UPDATED)

I made a mistake on my earlier post today.  (Can you believe it?)

The meal for the Kelley family is tonight (Monday)!  The meal is close to being complete but you can call the church office to see if anything else is needed.

On another note, the Mother/Daughter banquet takes place this Thursday night, 5/9, beginning at 6:o0PM.  If you plan on attending, please call the church office by the close of the day (5:00PM) tomorrow (5/7).  Anna Carol needs to know how many plan to attend in order to properly prepare the food.

MONDAY, 5/6/13

A good Sunday as far as our church services were concerned.  Our attendance in the evening service was very good and we had one profession of faith and two baptisms in that service.  We give God the glory!

Bro. Jerry Hovel’s Sunday School class will be leading the ministry of feeding the Kelley & Curl families over the next couple of days.    The meal for the Kelley family will be supper tonight (Monday).  If you would like to help, please contact Bro. Jerry.

The meal for the Curl family will be lunch on Wednesday with the food needing to be at the church no later than 10:00AM.  Again, Bro. Jerry is leading these ministry opportunities and you need to contact him with any questions.

Rob Nevin’s mother remains hospitalized.

Lindsey Vice had a surgical procedure this past Friday.  She came home on the same day and is recovering.  (TJ is busy trying to determine if he can deduct the cost of the trip to and from the hospital on his taxes)

Kayla Hatcher will have four wisdom teeth extracted (cut out?) this Wednesday.  That means Ryan will have to take care of the children, cook, clean, et cetera which is really nothing out of the ordinary in that household!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SATURDAY, 5/5/13

We are on a regular schedule tomorrow – morning and evening.  Spring break is over and the weather is supposed to be nice, so our attendance has the potential to be good!  Will you be faithful?

We will received a love offering in all three services to support the mission trip to India being taken by Jerry & Gloria Whitmore.  Pray and give as the Lord leads.  This is the only Sunday this offering will be received.

Deacons meet with me in my office at 4:00PM.

We will observe the ordinance of baptism as a part of our evening service.  Participants are asked to meet with Bro. Jerry at 5:30PM.

The rains have kept me from getting into the garden or mowing for the past two days.  However, Charles called early (5:00AM or so) yesterday morning to see when I was going to weed eat his yard?  I had a limited time as we had to go to Richton, MS to get ready for the Broome family reunion.  I did not get totally finished with the weed eating before Charles was hurrying me to leave for Richton.  He demanded that I finish the weed eating when we got home late yesterday afternoon but thank God we got home really late and it was raining.  It is 5:45AM and he has already called to see if I am going to finish today – wow!

By the way, we stopped at Aunt Jenny’s in Lucedale, MS for lunch yesterday.  Lisa and I were in a different vehicle from Charles & Ann.  He told us to go ahead and get a table as they had a stop to make.  No problem.  They had been to Aunt Jenny’s previously but not so for Lisa and me.  After we arrived I found out why he wanted us to get there first – you have to pay before you are seated since it is a buffet!  Slick move!

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 5/3/13

The first entry on this blog was 2/14/07 (2,271 days ago) and today’s post marks entry #2,000!  What does that mean?  Nothing really but it does allow the eight readers and me to “celebrate” this milestone!  (My goal in life is to stay ahead of Dr. Jack Bailey in the number of entries!)

Tommy Cole was not discharged from the hospital yesterday – “maybe” today.  (Lisa and I visited with him yesterday and that cost me as Lisa stopped by the hospital gift shop!)

Tena Hovel’s mother did not have surgery.  It is my understanding that they will do it next week.

Miss Edith Kelley’s doctor tells her that they “may” be able to do a surgical procedure on her heart’s valve that will help her.  A surgeon will determine if she meets the necessary criteria.

Pastor Travis Northcutt was released from the hospital.  No broken ribs.

Coach Hubbard tells me that Courtney is feeling much better and goes to Houston next Wednesday for her second chemo treatment.

Nice story on www.al.com about Chastity Touchstone.  Simply type in Chastity Touchstone in the search box and you will find a link to the story about a Semmes, AL mother.  (Thanks to Aunt Sanna for making me aware of this story)

We will receive a “love” offering this Sunday, 5/5, for Jerry & Gloria Whitmore’s mission trip to India.  Pray and give as the Lord leads.

The deacons are asked to meet with me this Sunday, 5/5, at 4:00PM in my office.

We will observe the ordinance of baptism as a part of our evening service this Sunday, 5/5.  Those participating are asked to meet in Bro. Jerry’s office at 5:30PM.  Bring a towel and a change of clothes.

Still have the lost Pandora bracelet.

Nothing like reading at 1:00AM and hearing a noise in your garage.  The freezer we purchased last May 31 has gone out with no warning even though it has all of those alarms!  Lisa (she was real happy about being awakened at that hour) and I were able to save some stuff but lost a lot too as it has apparently been out for a significant number of hours.   Monetary donations being accepted – LOL!

A 46 year old man in Utah is in a coma and listed in critical condition.  Why?  He was officiating a soccer game when a 17 year old player punched him in the face because of a foul call followed by a yellow card.  Wow!  Our society has gone crazy!

From this point forward, I will “unapprove” all derogatory comments left on this site about the Los Angeles Lakers!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.
