THURSDAY, 5/2/13

Pastor Travis Northcutt remains hospitalized.  The scans show no new bleeds.  He suffered a broken wrist, a cut (I think in his head) that required seven stitches, and possibly some broken/cracked ribs.  It is my understanding they will do some more tests today before determining whether to discharge him from the hospital.  (BTW, his e-mail address is ogbcpastor@yahoo.com should anyone want to send him a word of prayer support/encouragement)

Tena Hovel’s mother did not have surgery yesterday.  She is now scheduled to have it today.

Brenda Timberlake’s sister, Lisa, did not get a good report from the biopsy of her liver yesterday.  I do not know all of the details.

Rob Nevin’s mother, Barbara, will be moved to a Mobile hospital.  That move is scheduled to take place today.

Kerrie Lastorka sent an e-mail stating that her brother, Kevin Woods, is doing really good since being discharged from the hospital.

Mr. Cole will possibly be discharged from the hospital today.

Tanya Love remains in the hospital with no real change in her situation.

We had a good day in our services yesterday.  The rain probably hurt our attendance last night but not nearly as badly as it does on a Sunday.  I appreciate folks who are faithful regardless!

Got the corn ready i.e. hoe, hoe, hoe on Tuesday to be “laid by” this morning.  Hired Charles and his tractor ($90 an hour for the tractor, $45 an hour for the operator or $200 an hour if only the tractor is needed; minimum charge of one hour) for this morning.  However, the rain has changed those plans.  (Still lost my $100 deposit!)  I keep threatening to buy a tractor but Charles says that I can keep using his!

I have heard from a good number of folks who contacted ESPN yesterday regarding Chris Broussard.  Thank you for taking action.  You can still call.  Just simply say, “I am calling in support of Chris Broussard” or something to that effect.

The Spanish teacher at Faith Academy has asked me to speak to two of her classes this morning so Lisa and I will be doing that as we will share about GRACE Ministries and the work in Guatemala.

A Pandora bracelet was found under the oak tree in the church parking lot last night.  Belong to you?  Contact me.  (If no one claims it, Lisa has a birthday coming up – just saying!)

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 5/1/13

Danny & Julie’s dad had two stents placed in his heart Monday afternoon.  He is doing well but remains hospitalized.

John Curl’s mother is also in the hospital.  Rob Nevin’s mother remains hospitalized too.

We are on a regular schedule today/tonight.  Lisa is cooking poppy seed chicken casserole for the 8:00PM Bible study group.  Includes beans, corn, rolls, dessert and drink all for the low price of “free” so come and get it!

Chris Broussard is a reporter on ESPN.  Read below to see what transpired this past Monday and then take whatever action you feel appropriate.  I will be calling ESPN this morning (phone lines open from 7:00AM – midnight Central time).

“Personally, I don’t believe that you can live an openly homosexual lifestyle or an openly … like premarital sex between heterosexuals…It says that, you know, that’s a sin,” he explained. “If you’re openly living in unrepentant sin, whatever it may be, not just homosexuality — adultery, fornication, premarital sex between heterosexuals — whatever in may be, I believe that’s walking in open rebellion to God and Jesus Christ.”

In 2010, he co-founded K.I.N.G., an organization dedicated to empowering men to become godly role models.

ESPN released a statement late Monday noting its regret that the discussion became a distraction from the day’s news.

Broussard released a statement Monday.

“Today on OTL, as a part of a larger, wide-ranging discussion on today’s news, I offered my personal opinion as it relates to Christianity, a point of view that I have expressed publicly before,” he said. “I realize that some people disagree with my opinion and I accept and respect that. As has been in the past, my beliefs have not and will not impact my ability to report on the NBA.”

Take Action
Please contact ESPN and ask the cable network to protect Chris Broussard’s First Amendment rights: free speech and religious freedom.

You can call ESPN at 1-888-549-3776 (ESPN). Press #3 for television programs.
