TUESDAY, 1/7/14

On the prayer point today – Bobby Broome, Jodie Crawley, Virginia Morris   jack@danvillebaptist.org   P.O. Box 70 Danville, AL 35619

Bible reading passages for today – Genesis 16:1-18:15,  Matthew 6:1-24, Psalm 7:1-17, Proverbs 2:1-5

Visited Carolyn Blaylock yesterday morning.  She has a ways to go but has an excellent spirit.  She remains in ICU.  I was wrong in yesterday’s blog – you do not have to wear a mask, only gloves and a gown.

Visited Bob Henley (actually Chris) yesterday afternoon.  She, Bob, and the boys were to meet with a new doctor late yesterday afternoon.  I do not know the outcome of that meeting.  Chris did fracture the bone in her leg just above her ankle.

We need revival.  We have been praying.  I now ask you to get in the mindset of faithfully attending each of the services.  Regular times on Sunday (8:00 & 10:30AM and 6:00PM).  Monday – Wednesday at 6:30PM.  Pray for Bro. Jack and Miss June.

The “Children of the World” choir will be with us this Thursday night, 1/9, beginning at 6:30PM.  I listened to a cd of this choir (may have been one from previous years) yesterday.  I am ready for them to come lead us in worship.  Pray.  Attend.  Bring others!

Tough loss for AU last night.  I had predicted an AU win.  I was for the SEC and the state of Alabama.  I was surprised that FSU won the fourth quarter.  Football can be a funny game.

Stay warm today.  My chickens did not come out of their roosting area until late yesterday morning.  They may not come out at all today!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

P.S. – It has been cold here.  Yesterday, in Rainy River (Mark Mast) the high was negative 25 with wind chills of minus 50 – minus 70 degrees!  I would probably put a coat on for that weather – ouch!

MONDAY, 1/6/14

On the prayer point today – Edna Pearl Morgan, Sarah Thornton, Lynne Watson.  jack@danvillebaptist.org   P.O. Box 70 Danville, AL 35619.

Bible readings for today – Genesis 13:5 – 18, 14 & 15, Matthew 5:27-48, Psalm 6:1 -10, Proverbs 1:29 -33.

Carolyn Blaylock has an infection and it is contagious.  She remains in ICU and one must wear a gown, mask, and gloves in order to visit with her.

Bob Henley remains in the hospital.  I am told now that Miss Chris broke her ankle.  (Phillip & Claire told me yesterday that all of those bones are connected!)  Regardless, the Henleys need our continued prayer support.

Two major emphasis this week!  First, the “Children of the World” choir will be our special guests this Thursday evening, 1/9, beginning at 6:30PM in the auditorium.  Folks, you are going to be blessed by this choir.  The service will conclude at 7:30PM.  Pray.  Attend.  Invite others to join you.

Second, our revival services begin this Sunday morning at 8:00AM with Pastor Jack Bailey bringing the messages.  We are delighted to have Pastor Jack & Miss June with us again.  Pray!  Attend all of the services!  Invite others to join you.  Lord, send a revival!

For some, there is a pretty important football game taking place tonight.  I am a little surprised that no one from the Friendship family traveled West.  Especially since Morris Bryant was offering to pick up the tab i.e. airfare, lodging, rental car, meals, game ticket for any AU fan from Friendship wanting to make the trip.   I guess you guys did not get the memo!  BTW, I am picking AU to win the game!

Speaking of Morris, he had two tickets to the Sugar Bowl.  He posted on a Bama website that he would give those tickets to the first active or retired military person who contacted him and requested them.  I think a retired gentleman from Virginia took them.  Personally, I think Morris owes the man an apology after the way Bama play (or did not play)!  Classy move by Morris!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 1/3/14

On the prayer point today – Peggy Benefield, Vera Bosarge, Caryn Hyatt   jack@danvillebaptist.org  P.O. Box 70 Danville, AL 35619.

Need three folks (new) to cover tomorrow and Sunday.  I should be able to get folks from Sunday’s service to cover Monday – Saturday.

Bible reading passages for today – Genesis 5 – 7; Matthew 3:7-17, 4:1-11; Psalm 3:1-8; Proverbs 1:10-19.  There is still time for you to join us and you can catch up on your own.

Visited with Carolyn Blaylock yesterday morning.  She had an oxygen and the nurse asked that my visit be brief.  So, I really do not have an update but do ask that you keep praying.

I want to say “thank you” to those families who are hosting the children next Thursday night, 1/9.  I encourage each member of the Friendship family to keep that evening open and to join us for that worship service from 6:30 – 7:30PM.

Regular schedule this Sunday morning and evening.  I ask the deacons to meet with me at 4:00PM and the missions committee at 5:00PM.  Both groups will meet in the new office suite.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 1/2/14

On the prayer point today – Sonny Bates, Teresa Ladnier, Gina Turrentine.  jack@danvillebaptist.org.

Need folks who have not signed up to be on the prayer point to do so as we have no one for tomorrow.  Looking for folks who have not done so yet.  Send me a message!

Received word from Sara Nell Moulds last night that Carolyn Blaylock has been moved to ICU.  Obviously, she is a very sick lady.  Pray for her.  I will be visiting with her first thing today.

To sign up for our text alerts, send the word FRIENDSHIP to 68398.  This is for the members of the Friendship family initially.  If we have available space after January, we will include others if they so choose.  One alert per family, please.  (Please note that normal charges will apply if you have to pay for your texts.  Obviously, we do not charge or receive anything from these texts)

Some very important dates coming up in the next few days for the Friendship family:

January 4 – Upward leagues resume.

January 9 – very special service featuring a choir made up of children from Nepal, the Philippines and Uganda.

January 11 – Foundation Forward evening.

January 12 – 15 – revival services with Pastor Jack Bailey.  (Miss June is coming with him again – praise the Lord!)

I have been encouraged by those who have joined me in reading through the Bible in 2014.  There is still time for you to join.  Here are today’s readings – Genesis 3 & 4; Psalm 2:1-2; Proverbs 1:7-9; Matthew 2:13-23 & 3:1-6.

Yesterday was a day of rest and relaxation for me.  I watched more college football than I can remember in years.  Hated to see UGA lose.  I am a SEC guy.  Of course, the biggest of the bowl games takes place in New Orleans tonight.  Alan & Hien will be attending that game. I plan on watching from the comfort of my home.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 1/1/14

Wow, 2014 is really here!  I vividly remember thinking as a young child that I would never see 2000 because I would have to live to the ripe old age of 40.  I have now ripened to the age of almost 54, the world’s computers did not crash as the year 2000 came, and the first 14 years of this century have seemingly passed in about five minutes – wow!

On the prayer point today – Beth Bradley, Rick Bradley, Janice Smith.  jack@danvillebaptist.org  P.O. Box 70 Danville, AL 35619.

Soy & Deidra and Brad & Daphne hosted a NYE’s fellowship at the house last night.  Good time but not one stayed until midnight.  I was awake until midnight but it did not seem any different.  I did not watch any apples, moon pies, et cetera drop but my eye lids did shortly thereafter.

I have been blessed by the folks who have signed up to read the Bible through with me in 2014.  I have decided to read NASB and to use the One Year Bible Plan.  I will be sending a group e-mail in days to come in order to encourage and be encouraged.  Here is today’s reading – Genesis 1 & 2; Matthew 1, 2:1-12, Psalm 1:1-6, Prov 1:1-6.  These readings will take 15 – 20 minutes a day.

Text alerts begin today.  Here is how you sign up – text FRIENDSHIP to 68398.  One text alert notice per family within the Friendship family.

Many members of the Friendship family (and others associated with GRACE Ministries) know Mario & Amuy Monroy.  We met them in Guatemala and they are now serving as church planters in Spain.  They are in the Friendship family’s annual budget.  Received news about a week ago that Amuy is with child.  They were completely shocked but happy.  She will be a high risk pregnancy.

Here is an e-mail I received from Mario & Amuy today:

Dear Pastor Teddie,

Happy New year! Hope you and your family are doing well.

We are writing to share with you that we went to the new doctor yesterday. He took much time to speak with us and explain what he things about my pregnancy. He said that this is again a high risk pregnancy because of the problems in my circulatory system. I have to start taking a treatment to make my blood thicker. He said that I have to visit an hematologist to have some blood tests and visit him again on January 20. The baby will born in a hospital that is in a town 20 miles from our house because he said that this hospital has better equipment just in case if something happens. And he also said that I am actually in the 7 week of pregnancy, so the date that the baby could arrive is August 10.

About the baby everything looks fine. So maybe the pain is something normal with the adjustments of my body. We saw the baby in the screen and its incredible that even is very small (14 mm) we could see the little heart beating. Thank you for your prayers for the appointment. We feel that the Lord guide us to a good doctor. We just sent an update with the news and prayer requests.

Thank you again for your prayers,

Mario and Amuy

Pray for the Monroy family.

I pray that you will have a great New Year’s Day with Jesus.
