PRAYERS FOR CAROLYN BLAYLOCK (Updated)

It is 4:00AM and Larry Blackwell just called to tell me that Carolyn is being placed on a ventilator.  I am leaving now to go be with Trish and other family members.  Pray!

Update  (8:05AM) – honoring Carolyn’s wishes, the family decided against placing her on the ventilator.  The doctors do not anticipate that Carolyn will live through the day.  Only God knows.  Pray for Kent, the girls, and the rest of the family as they wait here at the hospital.

TUESDAY, 3/18/14

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 26:52-28:15, Luke 3:1-22, Psalm 61:1-8, Proverbs 11:16-17

Carolyn Blaylock was placed into ICU last night due to an extremely elevated temperature.  I went by to visit her in the rehab center yesterday afternoon but did not awaken her as she was sleeping very soundly.

Coley Johnson’s step mother (Tommy’s sister-in-law) suffered a stroke on Saturday night and was taken into surgery.  She was kept sedated until yesterday morning.  She remembers nothing and does not have full use of the right side of her body.

Mac’s nephew, Coleman, came out of surgery around 7:00AM yesterday morning.  The surgery lasted ten hours.  He is doing well considering the procedure.

Miss Kathleen Henderson seemed to be doing much better when I visited her yesterday morning.  She said she thought she was going home but I do not know if that happened.

Mary & Jack are doing well.  I suspect they will go home tomorrow (my speculation only!).

I am hearing that Sharon’s great grandson will be having surgery – possibly today.

The funeral service for Darrell’s mother takes place this morning in Illinois.

Saw Gloria Massingill in the hospital yesterday.  Her husband, Kenny, was undergoing a four hour surgical procedure on his heart.  Kenny & Gloria are faithful members of 1st Baptist St. Elmo.

All of the residents that I visited in the convalescent home seemed to be doing pretty good.  Miss Woods was in the bed which is very unusual for her.  Miss Mulkey said that she did not feel well.  Same for Rob’s mother.  Kevin’s mother was being wheeled down to join in a bingo game but she told me that she had never heard of such!  Miss Morgan seemed well and should be going home late this week or early next week.  Miss Lillie and Miss Marie were their usual lively selves.  Miss Phoebe was sitting in the hallway as she often does and was feeling well.  Miss Ora said she was good too.

Taking Miriam Mast to the airport early today for her flight to Chicago.  What a sweetheart!  We enjoyed her being with us for a few days.

I do not really care for these “first” round games in the NCAA basketball tourney but I do enjoy the first weekend as there are always upsets and usually some great games.  I have not completed a bracket yet but I will either go with Michigan State or Florida to win it all.  Joe David says either Florida or Louisville but he does not know a lot about basketball!

Had to get a possum out of my chicken coop last night.  Soy said no varmint could get in – good job, Soy!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 3/17/14

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 26:1-51, Luke 2:36-52, Psalm 60:1-12, Proverbs 11:15

Tuesday, 3/18 – Numbers 26:52-28:15, Luke 3:1-22, Psalm 61:1-8, Proverbs 11:16-17

Wednesday, 3/19 –  Numbers 28;16-29:40, Luke 3:23-38, Psalm 62:1-12, Proverbs 11:18-19

Thursday, 3/20 – Numbers 30:1-31:54, Luke 4:1-30, Psalm 63:1-11, Proverbs 11:20-21

Friday, 3/21 – Numbers 32:1-33:39, Luke 4:31-5:11, Psalm 64:1-10, Proverbs 11:22

Saturday, 3/22 –  Numbers 33:40-35:34, Luke 5:12-28, Psalm 65:1-13, Proverbs 11:23

Sunday, 3/23 – Numbers 36:1-Deuteronomy 1:46, Luke 5:29-6:11, Psalm 66:1-20, Proverbs 11:24-26

We were blessed with a good day in our services yesterday in spite of the severe weather.  I was initially disappointed in the morning attendance until I learned the severity of the weather (I was thinking only rain).  I know for certain of two churches that cancelled their services all together yesterday morning due to the weather.  So, all in all, our attendance was good.

I will be checking on Miss Kathleen today and also getting an update on Sharon’s great grandson.  Mac’s nephew, Coleman Drew, did not have the lung transplant on Saturday night due to the severe weather.  Yesterday was a possibility but I do not have confirmation if that took place or not.  Karen will let me know at some point today.

Jacqueline Crawley will have surgery on Thursday and Lindsey Vice will deliver her baby on Friday.  Mary Holmes could also deliver this week even though she is not due until some point in April.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SUNDAY, 3/16/14

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 24:1-25:18, Luke 2:1-35, Psalm 59:1-17, Proverbs 11:14

Miss Vinnie Brewer coordinated the ministry of feeding the Perry family following yesterday afternoon’s funeral service.  I so appreciate her and each person who helped in any way.  I am told they fed somewhere around one hundred people and everything went well.  What a great ministry on a Saturday afternoon!  I also want to say “thanks” to Bro. Chris for running the audio/video for the service.

Ditto for those who fed the Curl family on Friday.  Pattie Suthoff coordinated that meal.

Logan Wainwright has done a very nice job of keeping the auditorium clean this week with the extra activities – thanks Logan!

Miss Kathleen Henderson is in the hospital again.

I would not be surprised if Mary Cole goes to the hospital at any time in order to deliver her baby.

Speaking of delivering babies, rumor has it that Lindsey Vice will deliver this Friday, 3/21.  (I sure hope she does not wait until the NCAA tourney games are being played that day!)

Mac McGriff has a fifteen year old nephew who is battling CF.  He was scheduled for a lung transplant during the night (Saturday).

I do not have an update on Sharon Jardee’s great grandson.

Regular schedule this morning and tonight.  Lord willing, I will be preaching in all three services.  We will have a special guests bringing the message in song during the evening service.

It looks as though we will get some rain today although much of it appears to be staying north of us.  I pray that the members of the Friendship family will be faithful regardless of the weather.  As far as I know, it will be dry in the auditorium.

Big day today in Michigan as the  UM & MSU teams play for the Big Ten tourney championship.  I have very good friends on both sides of that one so I will remain very neutral.  Should be a good game.

In other basketball related news, Bama scored 40 in a post season scrimmage yesterday afternoon.  Can Bama fans expect this type of high octane offense next season?  (Disclaimer – the scrimmage went into triple overtime allowing Bama to reach this epic height on offense!)

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.  Go to church!

SHARON JARDEE’S GREAT GRANDSON

The following comes from a FB post by Sharon Jardee:

“I am asking for prayer for my great grandson Tyler Clendennin. He was in a bad accident on his Razer four wheeler. He was flown from Camden TN to Vanderbilt in Nashville. He has some serious head trama. He did not have his seatbelt on and broke the steering wheel off and hit the windshield. I will update when I know more.”

SATURDAY, 3/15/14

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 22:21-23:30, Luke 1:57-80, Psalm 58:1-11, Proverbs 11:12-13

The funeral service for Bobby Perry takes place today at 2:00PM from our auditorium.  It will be preceded by a time of visitation with the family.  I have been told two different times (12:00 & 1:00PM) but I know the family will definitely be there at the 1:00PM hour.

Miss Vinnie Brewer is coordinating the feeding of this family following the service.  If you are helping by bringing food, please have it in the fellowship hall no later than 1:00PM.  Thank you for ministering.

The yard sale concludes at noon today.  The appraisals begin at 4:00PM and the auction at 5:00PM.  Everything is in the CAB.

Here are the arrangements for Darrell McMann’s mother:  Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, where visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 10:30 am until time of the funeral service at 11:30 am, with Rev. Craig Sweet officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

Regular schedule tomorrow morning and evening.  My prayer is that the members of the Friendship family will be faithful.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 3/14/14

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 21:1-22:20, Luke 1:26-56, Psalm 57:1-11, Proverbs 11:9-11

The service last night was blessed by the Lord!  Dr. Ted Traylor did a great job of preaching the Word!  He was very complimentary of the Friendship family for the ease you give to a preacher to simply preach the Word!  I very much appreciate Pastor Ted being willing to come to South Mobile County – a real blessing to me!

I want to say “thank you” to Bro. Kerry, the choir, Brianna Sims, Randall Broome, Jeanette Bates & Tena Hovel for the music – good stuff!  Bro. Chris and Jerry Whitmore did their usual great job on the audio/video.  Our staff and deacons did an excellent job of greeting folks, serving as ushers, et cetera.  A good number of you did great in getting family and friends to attend which was awesome!  The house was packed and for that I am very grateful!  Justin Joyner was a great help with the automobile traffic flow following the service.  So, thanks to you and glory to God!  I am now waiting to see what God does in the life of the Friendship family as a result of that service.

Pastor Ted sent me an e-mail of thanks last night.  He is willing to come again at some point in 2015.  Join me in praying about that matter.

The funeral service for Lance Curl takes place this morning at 10:00AM from the chapel at Serenity Funeral Home.  Pray for that service and for the Curl family.

The funeral service for Bobby Perry, grandfather of Gauge Holmes, will take place tomorrow, 3/15, at 2:00PM in our auditorium.  It will be preceded by an hour of visitation.  We will need to minister to the Perry family by providing a meal for them following the service.  I am waiting to get a number to be fed from them.  We are going to need help.  I have to make a contact before I can tell you who to call if you will help.  Look for another entry later today.

The yard sale & auction take place today and tomorrow in the CAB.

We will have a special musical guest in our evening service this Sunday, 3/16.  I will be preaching but our guest will bring sing a couple songs.  Good friend and I look forward to that service.  Who is it?  Can you say Coach Eric Collier?

AU & UA both took the early exit from the SEC basketball tourney as I predicted.  They wanted to go ahead and get started on next year or something like that.  It is 4:30AM and, so far, Coach Grant still has a job.  IMO, he will be Bama’s coach next year.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 3/13/14

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 19:1-20:29, Luke 1:1-25, Psalm 56:1-13, Proverbs 11:8

Today is the day!  Pastor Ted Traylor will be our guest speaker in a special service that begins at 6:30PM!  I am calling on each member of the Friendship family to be in attendance tonight.  If you were in our service this past Sunday night, then you know what my hopes are for the members of the Friendship family.  We definitely want to put others first tonight!  Lets put aside the excuses and come with expectations of seeing the Holy Spirit do a great work in and among us!  Pray!  Invite!  Attend!

The visitation with the Lance Curl family takes place today from 5:00 – 8:00PM at Serenity.  Obviously, we are asking the members of the Friendship family to attend the visitation early in order to be in the special service at 6:30PM.  The funeral service takes place tomorrow morning at 10:00AM and will also take place from Serenity.  Pray for the Curl family.

If you are helping with the food for the Curl family, please have it in the fellowship hall no later than 10:00AM tomorrow, 3/14.  Contact Patty Suthoff if you have questions as she is leading this ministry for Bro. Jerry’s Sunday School class.

Lindsey Vice has been put on strict bed rest for the duration of her pregnancy.  Her doctor hopes to get her to 37 weeks which is Monday, 3/24.  Lindsey is really bummed about not being able to attend tonight’s service.  The 20 – 29 Sunday School class is taking care of meals until then.

No word yet on the Bobby Perry service.  Pray for the family.

What a blessing Lee Merck was in our 10:00AM service yesterday.  I can see the Friendship family being involved with Legacy of Faith by having a team(s) go there in the future.  As a matter of fact, I can see that happening sooner than later.  Pray about it!

Wow, Jay Jacobs wasted no time at all in firing Coach Barbee.  Makes me think that Jacobs already has his next coach in hand.  (I am hearing Ross Hatcher?)  I do not think Bill Battle does the same to Coach Grant.  (If he does, I am hearing Kyle Bryant?)

I am praying that tomorrow’s entry will be of great praise for all God did in our midst in the service tonight.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.  Hope to see you tonight at 6:30PM!
