THURSDAY, 3/6/14

Today’s Bible reading –  Numbers 6:1-7:89 Mark 12:38-13:13 Psalm 49:1-20 Proverbs 10:27-28

Pray for Pastor Rodney & Rhonda Coleman along with their family during this difficult time.

Edna Glover has two grandchildren in the hospital.  Evan is in a local hospital and will be having surgery possibly today.  Gabby is in an Atlanta hospital in ICU.

Miss Betty McMann has a broken arm and it is my understanding that it will require surgery.  I do not know the details of how she broke her arm.

Miss Luthene Herston did not have surgery yesterday and now they are thinking tomorrow.

No significant change in Lance Curl’s situation.

Annisa Iler did well through her surgery.

Drake Howard is the infant cousin of Katie Howard.  He was prematurely born.  Was sent home from the hospital but is now back in due to seizures and breathing difficulties.

Thanks to all from the Friendship family who helped minister to the Myra Herod family over the past few days.  Jim Chinners did a nice job preaching the service yesterday.

Men’s breakfast this Saturday morning, 3/8, beginning at 8:00AM in the fellowship hall.

Wedding shower for Alisha Vice and Matt Burks this Sunday, 3/9, from 2:00 – 3:30PM in the fellowship hall.  Registered at Target, Bed, Bath & Beyond and Grand Bay Auto Supply.

Time change (spring forward) this Sunday, 3/9.  Set your clocks forward one hour on Saturday night.

Pastor Ted Traylor will be with us on Thursday, March 13, beginning at 6:30PM.  Do not miss it!

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 3/5/14 PART II

Miss Luthene’s surgery was postponed.  Until when?  IDK.

Teresa Ladnier has taken it upon herself to collect diapers for the Women’s Resource Center in Mobile.  You may make donations at any time during March.  Box in the auditorium foyer and one in the  fellowship hall.

There will be a men’s breakfast this Saturday, 3/8, beginning at 8:00AM in the fellowship hall.  All men are invited.  Should be over no later than 9:00AM.  Questions?  Contact Jim Chinners or Jeff Holifield.

Have I mentioned Pastor Ted Traylor being with us on Thursday, March 13, beginning at 6:30PM?

WEDNESDAY, 3/5/14

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 4:1-5:31 Mark 12:18-37 Psalm 48:1-14 Proverbs 10:26 06

Miss Luthene Herston is set to have surgery this morning.  It relates to the earlier surgery but I am not sure of the details.

The visitation with the family (11:00AM) and service (12:00PM) for Myra Herod’s brother-in-law, Dan Green, takes place today at Serenity Funeral Home in Theododre.

John Curl’s nephew, Lance, took a turn for the worse yesterday morning.  They did a surgical procedure that was deemed a success.  He remains in critical condition.  Amazingly, his young daughter (3 years old) was in the accident too but was not injured as she was properly restrained in her car seat.  The family is most grateful that she is well.

There has been basically no change in Lindsey Burkhalter’s condition.  The hospice nurse is thinking six to nine days at this point.  The family thinks it will be sooner and I concur with the family.  God knows.

Anissa Iler is scheduled to have surgery this morning.  I am hearing that the funeral service for her husband, Michael Iler, is tentatively set for next week.

Including today, we are nine days away from our special service with Pastor Ted Traylor.  That service is set for Thursday, March 13 beginning at 6:30PM.  Pray!

There will be a wedding shower for Alisha Vice and Matt Burks this Sunday afternoon, 3/9, from 2:00 – 3:30PM in the fellowship hall.  Registered at Target, Bed, Bath & Beyond and Grand Bay Auto Supply.

By the way, this Sunday, 3/9, is time change Sunday which means we “spring forward” by moving our clocks “forward” one hour on Saturday night.  In essence, you lose one hour of sleep.  It is important to remember to do this or you will be an hour late for church.

We are on a regular schedule today/tonight.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 3/4/14 PART II

Deanna Wetterer sent me an e-mail early, early this morning asking if I could confirm that Steve Hicks had passed away yesterday.  I had Kayla Hatcher do some research but I could only confirm it via FB which I was not willing to post simply based on that.

Deanna just received an e-mail from Steve’s wife, Jamie, confirming that Steve did pass from this life yesterday.  That is all I know at this point but do ask you to pray for the Hicks family.

TUESDAY, 3/4/14

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 2:1-3:51 Mark 11:27-12:17 Psalm 47:1-9 Proverbs 10:24-25 05

Got a text message (on my laptop through iMessage) from Rita Vice saying that Lindsey’s condition remains basically unchanged this morning.  She is very low.  Pastor Rodney & Rhonda actually got a little sleep last night.

Visited with Lance Curl yesterday.  He is in ICU and not able to respond.  I prayed for him and left a card as no one from the family was on that floor during that particular time.

Visited with the residents in the convalescent home yesterday morning.  Everyone seemed to be doing good.  Miss Exie was up and was reading her Sunday School lesson.  Rob’s mother was asleep so I do not know if she was not feeling well or just resting.

Trish, will you send me the name of the facility where your mom is?

The visitation and service for Miss Myra’s brother in law takes place tomorrow beginning at 11:00AM at Serenity.

This is the latest I know on Bubba Benefield’s great nephew’s situation:

Michael Iler was a Music major at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, while Annissa Iler is studying Nursing, according to university president Dr. Tommy King.

“They are both outstanding students,” King said. “They were married in July and have been students here since August.

“The student body is very upset at Michael’s death.”

King said the school will hold off on decisions regarding a memorial service until Michael Iler’s parents have made their decisions. He said he spoke to the parents yesterday, but “they were too upset at the time to make any decision.” (Copied from blog.gulflive.com)

Pastor Ted Traylor will be our special guest on Thursday, 3/13, beginning at 6:30PM.  He serves as the pastor of the Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida.  Folks, do not miss this one!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus!

Myra Herod’s brother in law is named Dan Green.  Here are the arrangements for the visitation and service:  visitation on Wednesday, 3/5, from 11:00AM until the 12:00PM service time.  Visitation and service at Serenity Funeral Home in Theodore.

Lisa and I visited with Pastor Rodney & Rhonda Coleman and their daughter, Lindsey.  Folks, Lindsey is very, very low physically.  Would you stop right now and voice a prayer for this family?  Thank you!

Sunday, 3/9 – Numbers 11:24-13:33 Mark 14:22-52 Psalm 52:1-9 Proverbs 11:1-3

God gets the glory, period!  I do want to say “thank you” to the members of the Friendship family for being faithful!  We had a really strong attendance in our early service, a good attendance in our second service, and a decent attendance in our evening service.  The PM attendance was helped by a number of guests who follow southern gospel and/or The Revelations.  Good day!  Glory to God!

Bubba Benefield’s great nephew, Michael Iler, was tragically taken from this life in an automobile accident early, early yesterday morning.  He was 21 years old.  His wife, also 21 years of age, is in serious condition in a Hattiesburg, MS hospital.  Once again, pray for the Benefield family.  Arrangements pending.

Myra Herod’s brother-in-law passed away on Saturday morning.  He lived in the Houston, TX area.  They will bring the body to Mobile for burial.  We will post the arrangements on this blog once they are completed.

Betty Mayo passed away late last week.  The visitation took place on Saturday night and the service will be held from Serenity Funeral Home today at 12:00PM.

If you followed Alisha Vice’s blog during her time in Uganda, you will remember young Mary and her baby, Kevin.  Word came to me through Rita last night that Mary passed away.  Pray for the family and pray for Alisha.

John Curl’s nephew was also involved in an automobile accident.  He is in a local hospital.  I am not sure how his condition is listed i.e. serious or critical but I do know he and his family need our prayers.

Pastor Rodney & Rhonda Coleman’s daughter, Lindsey, is not doing well.  Rita Vice spent the night to be there with them and to help.

Carolyn Blaylock is in a rehabilitation facility.  Kent told me yesterday morning that she is very weak physically.  Therapy will be a challenge due to her weakness.

J.L. Nesmith is at home but remains a very sick man.

Art Elliott will have a scan on Wednesday and then meet with an oncologist on Thursday.

Phil Morgan’s mother has been in the hospital but will be moved to a convalescent facility today.

Lisa Thompson will have another treatment today.

It was good to see Ruby Gulley, Kathleen Henderson, Kevin Lunsford and Bill Unrue in our second morning service yesterday.

Thank you for supporting our college students yesterday by purchasing the meals.  Special thanks to Jim & Glenda Chinners for leading this effort.

The pictorial directory pictures are ready and available for you to pick up.  There will be one, and only one, make up day for pictures on Sunday, 3/16.  Kim will announce the details.  Kim and those who have helped her have done an excellent job with this project thus far.

Have I mentioned that Pastor Ted Traylor will be our special guest in a special service on Thursday, March 13, beginning at 6:30PM?  Join me in helping us have a standing room only crowd that night!

This post is too long!  My apologies!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SUNDAY, 3/2/14

Today’s Bible reading – Leviticus 25:47-27:13, Mark 10:32-52, Psalm 45:1-17, Proverbs 10:22

Happy birthday to my sister-in-law, Kim.  She is my favorite sister-in-law on Lisa’s side of the family.

I have to commend the members of the Friendship family for a job very well done in ministering to the Barnes family.  I heard many times over in the past couple of days about all you did for Miss Jo Nell and her family.  This was not coming from Jo Nell & Peggy but from the family members who came from other communities and states.  You made this pastor very proud because you served!

I am also thankful to those who have ministered to J.L. Nesmith during his time of need.  I do not know who all of you are but I do appreciate your serving him too!

Thanks to those who made their way to Eight Mile for the wedding of Aaron & Taylor yesterday afternoon.  You came to the funeral visitation and then honored Kevin & Tina by attending the wedding too.  Great job!  I appreciate you!

Spaghetti dinners available today for $6 immediately following Sunday School (for those who attend the early service) and then available immediately following the second service.

The Revelations quartet will be leading our worship in tonight’s 6:00PM service.  Everyone invited and encouraged to attend.

We have folks out of town this weekend so those of us in town must be faithful in our attendance, giving, et cetera.

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.

SATURDAY, 3/1/14, PART II

Art & Debra Elliott found out yesterday that the doctors have discovered a spot on his lungs.  They will be going in for further consultation next week (Wednesday, I think).  Pray for Art & Debra.

The Barnes family will be eating after the service this afternoon.  Those folks bringing food need to have it at the church no later than 3:00PM today.

The Lord has certainly blessed us with a beautiful day weather wise.  Thank Him!
