TUESDAY, 9/2/14 UPDATE

Received word from Dale Bosarge this afternoon that his grandfather, Ralph Rogers, passed from this life earlier today.  Obviously, arrangements pending.

Caryn “C” Suthoff has undergone a battery of tests today.  She had a mammogram which ruled out breast cancer.  They drained 3.7 liters of fluid from her stomach – immediate relief!  Will be a couple of days before all of the test results are back.  I am praying for something simple and treatable.

Martha Patrick is in the hospital.  Actually, she has been there since Monday, 8/28.  Pray for her.

Daphne received another chemo shot today and is now “off” until Monday, 9/15.  Lab work this Friday.  Never wanted her to receive a “0” while in school but now my prayer is for a big zero!

College Bible study resumes tomorrow night, 9/3, at our house beginning at 7:30PM.

TUESDAY, 9/2/14

Today’s Bible reading – Ecclesiastes 1:1-3:22 2 Corinthians 6:1-13 Psalm 46:1-11 Proverbs 22:15

Received an e-mail from Caryn Suthoff fairly early yesterday morning telling me that she is in the hospital.  They will do a battery of tests today to help them determine the cause of the problems she has been experiencing pretty intensively for the past several weeks.  Please note that there has been no definitive diagnosis at this point.  I simply ask you to join me in praying for “C” and Rusty.

The visitation with the Schjott family takes place tonight from 5:00 – 11:00PM from the Evangelical Methodist Church on Padgett Switch Road in Irvington.  Service is tomorrow at 11:00AM also from the church.  Pray for Sam and family.

Found out yesterday that there will be a men’s breakfast in the fellowship hall this Saturday, 9/6, beginning at 8:00AM.  All men are invited to attend this time of fellowship.  Questions about this fellowship?  Contact Jeff Holifield or Jim Chinners.

Speaking of Jeff Holifield, we will ordain Jeff, Kyle & TJ as deacons this Sunday night, 9/7.  The ordination council will meet from 3:00 – 5:00PM.  All ordained men are invited/encouraged to attend the council.

There will be a meeting in the youth building this Sunday night, 9/7, immediately following the evening service for all of our high school students planning to participate in next June’s GRACE Ministries trip to Guatemala.  Really important meeting for those students.  Others may attend the meeting but the main focus will be on the students.

Remember, September is the month for the members of the Friendship family to sign up for next Summer’s GRACE Ministries trips to Guatemala.  I can speak for the two trips that I will be leading, Lord willing – they will fill up quickly once they are opened to others on October 1, 2014.  Do not delay – sign up today!

BTW, our December GRACE Ministries trip has picked up much steam.  Open sign up taking place now.  Contact me with your questions or to sign up.

We had a huge Sunday School fellowship yesterday afternoon.  I mention that simply to say this – Ray Baber allowed us to use an inflatable water slide/bounce house combination.  Ray owns CC’s Inflatables in Theodore and is an active member of the Friendship family.  Need an inflatable for a party, fellowship, et cetera?  Please consider renting from CC’s and Ray!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

Sunday, 9/7 – Song of Solomon 5:1- 8:14 2 Corinthians 9:1-15 Psalm 51:1-19 Proverbs 22:24-25

We were blessed with a very good day in our services yesterday.  What a joy to baptize four more folks as a part of last night’s service.  In a testimony to God’s goodness and your faithfulness, our attendance was very good even though it was a holiday weekend.  We were only a few short in both the morning and evening services from last week’s totals.  God is good!

Tommy Johnson’s mother is in the hospital.

Pam Lewis’ mother is in a Louisiana hospital having had her hip replaced.  Pam will be going there this weekend to spend some time with her.

Sarah Thornton’s great niece passed away yesterday.  She was only 27 years old.  Do not know the details.

Sam Schjott’s grandmother, Marie Schjott, passed away last Thursday.  The visitation with the family takes place tomorrow night, 9/2, from 5:00 – 11:00PM at the Evangelical Methodist Church in Irvington.  The funeral service will take place at 11:00AM on Wednesday, 9/3, also from the Evangelical Methodist Church.  Pray for Sam’s family.

The church office is closed today but will reopen at 8:00AM tomorrow.

Our Sunday School class (20-29) and the 30-39 class will have a joint fellowship at our house this afternoon.  Translated – it is 5:00AM and Lisa has already mandated that I be doing yard work at the crack of dawn!  I simply asked, “have you ever seen Will’s yard” to which she replied, “this is not Will’s yard!”

A good first weekend of college football.  Things get even better next weekend as the NFL regular season begins.  Good stuff!

I pray that you will have a great Labor Day with Jesus!
