Visited with Brian Amonett’s family yesterday morning. Brian has been moved to ICU again. Some problems with his lungs and they had to give him one med to keep his blood pressure at an acceptable level. His parents request continued prayers.
Visited with Rusty’s grandmother. She did not seem to be doing as well yesterday as she was when I visited her on Saturday. She is grateful for the prayer support.
Visited with Herbert Benefield’s niece. She is now in a room and is making progress toward recovery. She too is thankful for the prayers.
Carla Kyser went to the doctor yesterday and was to be given some fluids. (In case you did not know it, Carla is about as hard headed as they come!) I did not hear from her after her doctor’s visit but hope she is feeling better.
Pastor Tim Cauley did a nice job of preaching the service for Brandice Lambert Olson yesterday afternoon. Always difficult whenever you are preaching a service for a young person.
Coley & Katelyn Jackson, Dylan Westbrook, Lisa and I (20 – 29 SS class) took part in the GROW visitation last night. I know there were at least seven others involved too. (Probably more than that but those are the ones I saw as it was a come and go event) I am thankful for each person who went out last night. Rick Bradley and others will be involved in the next GROW session (9/14) as our SS class plans to have a representative going out each Monday. How did our (Lisa and me) visits go? One really good visit with a family looking for a church home and one family not at home.
Our weekly prayer meeting will take place tonight. Please hear me on this one – I believe that prayer meeting is very important. I believe the Lord led me to be in the church auditorium each Tuesday when in town to pray. However, I believe in personal time and family time. If you were involved in GROW last night then I do not expect you to give another night to come to the auditorium and pray. In all probability those involved in GROW will also be involved in our services tomorrow. There are plenty of folks who were not involved in GROW last night who can come and pray. It is my hope that those folks will join me in the auditorium tonight from 5:00 – 7:00PM. Remember, come and go or come and stay – just pray! God is honoring our prayers!
The two GRACE trips that I will lead in the Summer of 2016 are filled to capacity and beyond. I do not know about the one that Bro. Jerry Hovel will lead. You can contact him personally if you have an interest in that trip.
I am actually on vacation today (this is a phrase you will hear often during September). What does that mean? It means that even though I am on vacation, I will still be available in the case of an emergency. I plan on getting our Christmas decorations out of the attic today as Christmas will be here tomorrow based on how quickly the first eight months have gone by! BTW, I will be on vacation this Thursday, 9/3, as well.
