THURSDAY, 8/12/21

This entry will be very short and hopefully sweet.

No updates on those folks for whom we have been praying so the request is to just keep on praying for them.  The only addition to the prayer list is Mason Dyess who is battling the virus and pneumonia.  He will be an infusion today.  Pray for Mason.

Regular schedule on our campus this Sunday morning and evening.  Our Friendship Bible club for children begins this Sunday, 8/15, at 5:00PM and our children’s choir begins at 6:00PM.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

The young lady who is part of our Hispanic ministry had a gall stone which she passed and is not doing much better.  Praise the Lord!

Elizabeth Sessions sent me an update yesterday on Lee.  He is weak physically and on two different antibiotics which are given through an IV.  So, “nurse” Elizabeth is learning on the go!  Keep praying for Lee & Elizabeth.

Allen Glover’s brother needs a surgery but he is not strong enough for it at this point.  Keep praying for Edward Glover.

Sam S is making some progress slowly but surely.  Pray!

Lisa’s dad remains hospitalized.  More tests today.  Daphne is the medical professional who knows much more than me as to what is taking place with Charles.  Thank you for praying.

TUESDAY, 8/10/21

The news I received on Sam S yesterday was pretty much no major change one way or the other.  Sam did have dialysis yesterday and that went well.  Keep praying for Sam.

I do not have an update on Allen Glover’s brother but do ask for continued prayer for him.

Keep praying for Lee Sessions and for Elizabeth as she is his nurse.  Obviously, Lee is at home.

Lisa’s dad was admitted to the hospital late yesterday afternoon.  They are running more test this morning.  In the meanwhile, I am looking for his will!  Just saying!  Pray for Charles.

Regular schedule on our campus tomorrow morning and evening.

I support the Chicago police and their actions at the hospital the other night.

Soy & Deidra’s girls are happy as their paternal grandmother (Myrna from Smyrna) arrived in Guatemala Sunday afternoon.  She will be there for a couple of weeks.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 8/9/21

This date is forever etched into my memory.  On August 9, 2006, my good friend, Evangelist Bruce Gill, passed from this life at the young age of forty nine years.  I vividly remember where I was when Deidra called to share the news of Bruce’s passing.  Seems like yesterday.  I miss Bruce big time!

On August 9, 2014, I received word that Miss Cristy Leytham passed from this life.  I had just returned from Guatemala the day before and was very blessed to be able to catch the last flight out of Mobile that day in order to be there for the funeral on August 10.  I never go to GRACE Mountain without thinking about Miss Cristy.

Allen Glover’s brother, Edward, is not doing so well.  He remains in a Montgomery, AL hospital.  Keep Edward in your prayers.

Keep praying for Sam Schjott.  Word came last night that he is having some problems but he also has made some progress.  Sam is so well liked by so many folks and has folks praying for him in many locations.

Lee Sessions continues to recover at home.  Keep praying!  Pray for Elizabeth as she is his nurse!

Aninha’s nephew did not have surgery on Friday.  Surgery has now been scheduled for two weeks from now.  Pray for Jay.

Al Stokes has a cousin, Bobby, who is battling the virus.  He has been taken to a hospital in Jackson, MS.  Pray!

My friend, Ranny Cockrell, had a tough weekend.  Pray for Ranny.

Rumor on the street is that Miss Vinnie is headed to Tennessee to visit Shirley, Hugh and others.  Pray for safety in travel.  I am so glad Miss Vinnie is getting this opportunity.

Really good day in our services yesterday morning and last night.  Excellent spirit in all three services.  We give God the glory!

I met with the staff and deacons following last night’s service and we are going to maintain a normal Sunday and Wednesday schedule for the foreseeable future.  Our live stream is available on Sundays.  Contact me for the passcode.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SATURDAY, 8/7/21

Word came to me late yesterday afternoon that Sam Schjott has seemingly taken a turn for the worse physically.  Folks, Sam really needs our prayer support.  Pray, pray, pray!

Allen Glover sent me an update on his brother, Edward. They have identified the infection and he has made some improvement. He remains in a Montgomery hospital.  Pray!

Buddy Brewer had a PET scan on Thursday and should get the results on Monday, 8/16.  Keep praying.

Lee Sessions is at home as far as I know.  He continues to need our prayer support.

Ranny Cockrell continues to do probably better than expected following his emergency surgery.  Pray.

Spoke to Al Stokes last night and he has a cousin who lives in the Lucedale, MS area.  He was flown to Jackson, MS yesterday in his battle against the virus.  Not a good situation.  Pray!

I had the privilege of visiting with Decker Terry yesterday morning as I had a meeting in Montgomery.  As always, great to see Decker and his niece, Sherry.  Decker is a huge supporter of GRACE Ministries and SLAM.  I appreciate Decker so much!

Regular schedule on our campus tomorrow morning and evening.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 8/6/21

Happy birthday to my mother-in-law, Ann Clark.  Without a doubt I am blessed with the most wonderful mother-in-law in the world.  What a sweetheart!  I pray that her day is very special!

Aninha Barrett’s nephew will be having surgery today.  Pray that all goes well.

As far as I know, Lee Sessions was discharged yesterday.  Keep praying for Lee.

I think Buddy Brewer is having a test performed today.  Pray for Buddy!

I encourage you to continue to pray for Sam Schjott.  I did not get an update on Sam yesterday but do ask that you keep holding Sam up in prayer.

My friend, Ranny Cockrell, is doing better than expected according to the doctors.  Keep praying!

The senior adult lunch yesterday was a huge success!  We had a total of thirty two folks present.  Bro. Abel did an excellent job of driving the bus and the bus performed extremely well.  Folks, the Lord gave us a blessing when He allowed us to purchase that bus at such a good price.  We give Him the praise!  Hopefully another trip can take place in September.  Thank you to each person who participated in yesterday’s outing.

Regular schedule on our campus this Sunday morning and evening.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 8/5/21

Our senior adults will leave the church campus at 10:15AM today heading to the Fishes & Loaves restaurant to enjoy lunch.  Even if you have not signed up, all senior adults are welcome to join us.  I anticipate arriving back to the church campus around 1:00 – 1:30PM.  Looking forward to this time of fellowship.

The church office will close at 10:00AM today and will remain closed for the rest of the day.  Just FYI.

Elizabeth Sessions tells me that Lee is supposed to be discharged from the hospital today.  Praise the Lord!  Elizabeth has been very good at keeping me updated.  Keep praying for Lee!

The word I received on Sam S late yesterday is that his organs are good, his lab work is good but his lungs are in “rough shape.”  He remains in ICU.  Keep praying!

Allen Glover’s brother, Edward, remains in a Montgomery hospital.  Pray for Edward.

Megan “Bo” Older’s parents are both having some health issues.  Her dad is in the hospital and her mom was in the emergency room last night at church time.  Pray for these folks.

Keep praying for Buddy Brewer.

Also, keep praying for Coley, Katelyn & family.

My friend, Ranny Cockrell, did not suffer as stroke as first thought.  He had a benign tumor in his head that was surgically removed yesterday.  The surgeon “thinks” the surgery was a success but it could take up to seventy two hours to know for certain.  Pray for Ranny.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 8/4/21

Many of you probably already know that Evangelist Wade Morris passed from this life around 2:00AM yesterday.  Wade was only fifty one years old and leaves his wife and two teenage daughters to cherish his memories.  Pray for Wade’s family.  Pray for Pastor Joe David Bailey as he and Wade were very good friends.

Word came to me yesterday afternoon that Sam Schjott is in ICU but the good news is that he is NOT on a ventilator.  Keep praying for Sam!

Coley Johnson and family continue to need our prayer support.

Allen Glover’s brother, Edward, is in a Montgomery hospital and is not doing well.  This is not virus related.  Allen is very concerned for his brother and asked us to pray!

Roseanne Baria spoke to Linda McConnell yesterday via the phone and learned that Linda is very sick too.  Linda was going to the doctor and asked that we pray for her.

Lee Sessions has been moved to a regular room and it appears he will be discharged by the end of this week.  Keep praying for Lee.

Buddy Brewer should be having more tests this week.  Keep praying!

Sonny Bates will be having surgery but the timing has not been determined due to hospitals holding off on elective surgeries.  I can assure you that Sonny would “elect” to not have surgery if that option existed and he could be well.  Pray for Sonny!

Pray for Jennifer Kirschenman as she is in pain due to her hip and the cancelled surgery.

A friend for many years, Ranny Cockrell, suffered a stroke yesterday and has not been responsive since.  Ranny was on staff at Sage Avenue Baptist for years and we connected through the RA basketball program.

Regular schedule on our campus this morning and evening.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 8/3/21

Sam Schjott has been moved to a Mobile hospital.  His lungs collapsed and he still has pneumonia in each lung.  Sam is a very sick young man.  Keep praying for Sam.

Lee Sessions remains in the hospital.  Keep praying!

Jennifer Kirschenman’s hip replacement surgery was postponed as the hospital is not doing elective surgeries now because of the virus.

Another member of the Friendship family was diagnosed yesterday with the virus.  This is his second time to have the virus. Has he had the vaccination?  No clue.  I am not the vaccination police and do not ask folks their vaccination status.  I do know that he and his family need our prayer support.

The good news is that Katie Tillman’s dad was discharged from the hospital -praise the Lord!

Evangelist Wade Morris has been in a Birmingham hospital for several days with the virus.  Yesterday, they found blood clots in his heart/lungs area.  Surgery was performed to removed them but they were not able to do so.  They are now giving him medicines to try to dissolve them.

Still time for our senior adults to sign up for Thursday’s free meal at Loaves & Fishes.  Call the church office today or send me an email.  Bus leaves at 10:15AM.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 8/2/21

Pray for the Michalski family as they will gather for the visitation and the service for Phyllis.  Visitation begins at 10:00AM followed by the 11:00AM service.

It was a blessing to see Elizabeth Sessions and family in our second morning service yesterday.  Lee had been freed of all of the various tubes minus the IV.  If all goes as planned, Lee could be moved to a regular hospital room today.  Keep praying for Lee and Elizabeth.

Jennifer Kirschenman is scheduled to have hip replacement surgery tomorrow.  Pray that all goes well.  It must be tough getting old!

Keep praying for Buddy Brewer.

Aninha’s nephew is scheduled to have surgery this Friday.  Pray for him.

Sam Schjott has double pneumonia and is in the hospital.  Pray for Sam!

It was good to see Scott & Nanette Fontenot in our second morning service yesterday.  Thank God they got through their respective battles with the virus.

Katie’s parents are much better even though her dad remains in the hospital.  Keep praying!

We were blessed with really good services yesterday.  Praise the Lord!  The spirit was excellent in all of the services.  I cannot tell you what that means to this pastor!  A blessing indeed!

The Friendship family voted last night to purchase an additional eighteen and half acres of land.  We are most grateful for this opportunity!  Larry Whitehurst will be taking care of the details beginning this morning.

Senior adults – someone forgot to sign folks up during the morning services yesterday for Thursday’s meal.  So, I need you to call the church office or to send me an email like five minutes ago.

Thank God for being with Bro. Abel and our folks who traveled to Six Flags and back this past Saturday.

Regular schedule this Wednesday morning and evening.

I need to hear from our Yankee friends regarding the meeting next week.  The Yankees are killing me!  LOL!

As Will Reynolds says, “fun fact!”  I preached my first message forty six years ago tonight at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Flint, Alabama.  Bro. Alvin Tucker was the pastor.  I am thankful for his trust to allow me in his pulpit as I was fifteen years old.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.
