Today’s Bible reading – Joshua 5:1-7:15 Luke 15:1-32 Psalm 81:1-16 Proverbs 13:1

Bro. Benny will be leading folks in washing the buses this morning beginning at 9:00AM.  Want to help?  Just be there ready to work!

The Finance Committee will meet tomorrow afternoon at 4:00PM in the church office.

I need to meet with the Trustees tomorrow afternoon at 5:00PM in the church office.  This is important and is the first mention of this meeting.

Carlos Raxon’s surgery has been set for Tuesday, May 20.  I am praying that the schedule will change which will allow him to get an earlier surgery date.  Please join me in that prayer.

They found some cancer cells in the fluid they removed from Rusty’s mother.  Not sure what the next step in the process will be but do ask that you pray for her.

I want to say “thank you” to the members of the Friendship family who attended the visitation and/or service for Mr. Tommy Cole.  You did well.

Regular schedule tomorrow morning and evening with the observance of the Lord’s Supper and baptism in the evening service.  It is supposed to be a beautiful day with a high of 78 and plenty of sunshine.  I encourage you to not forsake the assembling together as we meet for Bible study and worship.

I was able to get in three hours with the weed eater and one hour on the mower yesterday afternoon.  Probably have another hour and one half with the weed eater today, five on the mower, and then the garden will call my name.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

From the ACLJ news letter. Thanks for praying and signing the petitions. “NEVER GIVE UP”

Over a quarter million of you have demanded that Iran free Pastor Saeed. He’s now in an Iranian hospital, not prison, because you spoke out. We’re thankful he’s receiving medical attention, but it’s time to bring him home. Keep appealing to Iran for clemency – for freedom – for Pastor Saeed.

In addition to our global fight for the persecuted Church, we’re fighting for religious liberty right here at home. This week we’ve had two major victories.
In New York, school officials tried to discriminate against a student-led Bible club. The officials claimed that Christian clubs – and only Christian clubs – needed to purchase insurance before they could meet in the school. Are Christians more dangerous than other students? Our attorneys informed the school that this kind of anti-Christian discrimination is unconstitutional. The school immediately backed down.
Victory for Bible Club in NY.

We also won another major court decision in a case we recently told you about. A North Carolina university discriminated against a Christian professor for exercising his free speech rights. A jury agreed, and this week the judge rightly awarded this professor the promotion and back pay he was unjustly denied.
Victory Update: Conservative Christian Professor Awarded Promotion, Back Pay.
Whether it is unjust discrimination at home or deadly persecution abroad, we’re working around the clock to defend religious liberty.

An ACLJ diplomatic team just returned from the Middle East and other legal teams will be meeting with world leaders in the fight to free Pastor Saeed.
