Today’s Bible reading – Jeremiah 51:54-52:34 Titus 3:1-15 Psalm 100:1-5 Proverbs 26:18-19

Visited with the residents of the convalescent home yesterday morning.  Everyone that I visited, with the exception of Miss Barbara Nevin, seemed to be doing well.  My “source” inside the home confirmed my findings to be true!

The Lord blessed as Daphne’s time in the chemo room was short.  Now we wait on Friday.  Praying for a zero!

Carol Lucky had eye surgery yesterday.  Miss Jackie Goff has a medical test today.  C remains basically the same as far as I know.

Anyone planning on taking part in the AED training must contact Daphne (daphnehutto@gmail.com) by tomorrow noon.  The training takes place beginning at 6:30PM on Thursday night, 10/30, in the fellowship hall.

Also, TJ & Lindsey Vice will lead the group setting up for the Hallelujah Festival.  That takes place on Thursday night, 10/30, beginning at 6:00PM in the CAB.  Helpers needed!

Breakfast on Saturday at 7:00AM followed by work day beginning at 8:00AM.  We will focus on trimming hedges and other things to get ready for the Winter.  However, we have made a shift in one of our main focuses.  We will not be placing sod but will instead be placing hay over the existing dirt thus allowing for those areas to settle.  We will rake our own hay from the back forty so please come with rakes in hand.  We need that “many hands” thing in action this Saturday morning.

I appreciate the gift given to me by the church family for pastor appreciation this past Sunday night.   I am also grateful to those who have personally given me gifts for this occasion.  Someone provided my family with a wonderful box of meat last week – it was really good!

Not all gifts have to be financial.  Two examples – three guys got together this past Sunday night and came to the house following the evening service.  They wanted to “stretch and challenge” me mentally but in the end they merely provided me with a good laugh.  I give them credit for their time and effort.  (Might I add their effort was feeble at best but it was appreciated!)

Yesterday, one of our young teachers also gave me the gift of laughter.  All she had to do was open the door and I simply walked through it.  It was great!  (No need to cue the blonde jokes here)  What are your talking about pastor?  Those four know!

Then, the Cowboys made my day complete as they lost to the Redskins (am I allowed to call them that?) last night!  How bout them Cowboys!  I loved it!  (It obviously does not take much to complete my day!)

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

Your prayers for my daddy, Bobby Howard, are appreciated. He is fighting bacterial pneumonia. He has a compromised immune system due to lymphoma. They are treating with IV antibiotics and shots to build up his blood count. He’s an outdoors kind of guy; so hospitals aren’t his favorite place to be! Visitors are restricted due to risk of infection, but prayers are welcomed.
    Thanks,
    Leslie
