FRIDAY, 2/23/18

“Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32)

I was literally in a “fog” when I wrote yesterday’s blog entry.  I apologize.  My day began like that but it did not end that way.  I will explain later in this entry.  Thank you to Reb Nevin and Donald Butler for their comments on yesterday’s entry.

Mark & Brenda Timberlake received word on Wednesday that one of Timber’s brothers was not doing well.  They left early yesterday morning driving to Kentucky.  Mark’s brother passed from this life thirty minutes after their arrival.  So, pray for the Timberlake family as they walk through this valley.  Obviously, Mark & Brenda will stay in Kentucky until after the service has taken place.

There will be a celebration of life service for Barbara Hamilton’s brother, Doug Knippers, this morning at 11:00AM.  It will be preceded by an hour of visitation with the family.  The visitation and service will take place at the Heritage Funeral Home on Highway 63 in Escatawpa, MS.  Barbara was the only daughter among four brothers.  She was also the oldest and now all four of her brothers have preceded her in passing from this life.  Pray for Barbara and family.

Miss Willie Roberts’ daughter, Maxine, remains hospitalized and in ICU.  They have not been able to do surgery on her broken leg yet.  Keep praying for her.

Rob Nevin’s mother, Miss Barbara, has been placed under hospice care.  She is a resident in a convalescent facility.  I had the opportunity to visit with her yesterday afternoon and she seems to be in pretty tough shape.  Pray for Miss Barbara.

I posted the arrangements for Caroline Ford yesterday afternoon.  The obit has not been published online yet.  I hope to have more details about feeding her family in tomorrow’s blog.  Deidra posted a nice blog about Caroline on their site (www.shininglightabroad.com) yesterday.  Deidra was devastated when she learned of Caroline’s passing.

We will have a regular Sunday morning schedule this Sunday, 2/25, but then nothing as far as meetings, classes, choir rehearsal or service on Sunday afternoon/evening.  Our focus will be on remembering Caroline and ministering to her family during those hours.  Staff and deacons – please take note of the e-mail sent to you yesterday and expect another one today or tomorrow.

Mission of Hope service tonight at 7:00PM.  Music will be great.  Preaching not so much.  Everyone invited.

Carl Brinkman made an AAU basketball team so congratulations are in order.  I am not sure all that involves but his mother has assured me that he will not be missing church services because of it.  Congratulations Carl!

I was admittedly “down” yesterday morning.  Did a few things but just could not get motivated to do much else.  Sweet Katie Tillman sent me a podcast entitled “Don’t forget in the dark what God taught you in the light!”  It helped.  Thank you Katie. Then I leaned on the Holy Spirit and thought about what Caroline would tell me to do.  So, I just got busy doing ministry and decided to celebrate Caroline’s life.

Of course, Lisa also played a major role in that getting busy thing.  After work yesterday, she blasted me for the way our yard looks and basically demanded that I get busy eating weeds, mowing, or something.  So, I spent about an hour or so eating weeds.  Then she told me to get a shower and get to Walmart to buy groceries.  So, being the submissive husband that I am, I did.

She has told me that after the service for Miss Barbara’s brother today that I will come home and plant the garden.  I said, “it is February” and she replied, “I know!”  She said, “Uncle Bobby planted today and you will not let John Milton get ahead of you this year!”  Folks, you just do not know!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.
