ALICE PIGORSCH ENTERS HEAVEN

This entry is being posted at 10:30PM and Ernest Pigorsch just called to tell me that his mother, Miss Alice Pigorsch, passed from this life earlier tonight.  Miss Alice was 93 years old.  We will post the arrangements on this blog once they have been finalized.  Pray for the Pigorsch family.

SATURDAY, 10/23/10

Just a quick update to say that each person from North America arrived home safely last night.  Lisa and I brought up the rear as we got to Grand Bay around 11:00PM.  Mark Mast actually went to West Virginia and will drive back to Canada on Monday.  We thank God for His traveling mercies.

I hope to be joined by many members of the Friendship family for Bible study and worship tomorrow morning and evening.  We are on a regular schedule.

Bro. Sonny Bates is scheduled to have knee replacement surgery on Monday afternoon.  Pray that all goes well for him.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

10/22/10

Nothing new regarding the folks we have been mentioning this week because of surgery, hospital stays, et cetera.  I ask our folks to remember the Mission of Hope ministry tonight.  You are welcome to attend the service at 7:00PM.  Pray for this ministry.

It is a little after 4:00AM as I write this entry and the third annual pastors’ conference in Guatemala is now history.  The first group left shortly before 4:00AM heading to the airport.  The second group will leave the mission house at 9:00AM.  We all should be home before midnight if everything is on time and there are no problems.

The conference was a blessing.  Registration was 325 (+/-) and we probably had around 375 present for each session.  Dr. Tico and his staff did an outstanding job of coordinating and hosting this year’s conference.  The folks who came from North America were awesome!  We give God the glory for a great three days!  Thank you to each person who gave to help make this conference possible.

Jerry Whitmore and I met with 19 folks from El Salvador yesterday afternoon and they gave us a written letter of invitation to host a conference there in 2011.  The details i.e. when, where, et cetera remain to be worked out but they are very excited about our being with them.

I pray that you will have a great weekend with Jesus.  I look forward to joining the Friendship family in Bible study and worship this Sunday morning.

THURSDAY, 10/21/10

Tommy Johnson’s dad did well through his surgical procedure yesterday but they will not know if it had the desired effect for several days.  Vera Bosarge’s brother, Troy Vesper, also had the stent placed in his carotid artery yesterday and did well through that procedure.  Larry Whitehurst’s mother, Miss Ruth Whitehurst, will have a heart cath this morning.  Pray for these folks.

Abel Garcia, Bob Harvey, Mark Mast, and Johnny Tucker all did nice jobs of sharing the Word with the conference participants yesterday.  Good day and we give God the glory!

Today will be a busy day as we bring the conference to a close.  Pray that this final day will be a blessing.  Doug Chappelle and Joe David Bailey will be preaching this morning.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

P.S. – We enjoyed supper at El Charro’s last night but you will need to contact Michael Mason for the details!  Awesome!

WEDNESDAY, 10/20/10

Tommy Johnson’s dad is having a procedure done today.  Pray for him.  Tony Barnes continues to make progress in his recovery too.  Keep praying!

Bro. Jerry says that the senior adults are having a great time in TN.  How can one have a great time in TN?

Our Pastor Emeritus, Bro. Robbie, will be preaching in the 10:00AM & 7:00PM services today.  It is good to be able to use Bro. Robbie and I appreciate his willingness to serve.

Jerry Whitmore, Terry Napier, & Michael Mason all did nice jobs of preaching in the main sessions today.  Everyone except Terry Napier taught a break out session during the afternoon.  I believe the first day was a success.  I am not sure exactly how many folks are present but it appears to be more than 300.

Today will see Abel Garcia, Bob Harvey, Mark Mast and Johnny Tucker preach in the main sessions.  Everyone except Mark Mast will teach a break out session.  The afternoon is an off time for the participants (soccer) so we will spend a couple of hours in Antigua and eat supper there.

Friendship family – the pastors from El Salvador have requested a meeting with me tomorrow and brought a letter of invitation with them asking GRACE Ministries to host a pastors’ conference in 2011.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 10/19/10

Good Tuesday morning from Guatemala.  Everyone arrived safe and sound yesterday with Joe David Bailey bringing up the rear arriving around 8:30PM local time.  We had an afternoon of rest, relaxation, and fellowship before heading to Pollo Campero for supper.  I appreciate Pastor Max making two airport runs for us yesterday.

Lisa is cooking breakfast this morning and we are gathering for a time of Bible study in the upper room.  The conference participants are being registered, getting room assignments, et cetera so the actual conference will not begin until 10:30AM.  Bro. Jerry Whitmore is leading off as he will teach the first main session at 11:00AM.  Pray for him.

I assume that the senior adults arrived in Tennessee safe and sound yesterday too.  Pray that they will have a good week.

I do not have any updates on anyone back home so I assume there have been no significant changes one way or the other.  Pray for those who are battling their respective diseases.  Bro. Johnny tells me that his mother is doing some better but has a long way to go.  Keep praying.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 10/18/10

Wow!    I so appreciate the sweet, sweet spirit that was so very evident in last night’s service.  I left that service feeling as though one thousand pounds had been lifted from my shoulders.  I missed God last year following our pastors’ conference as it related to an invitation for GRACE Ministries to host a pastors’ conference in El Salvador.   If the pastors from El Salvador extend another invitation, I can readily say “yes” with the full support of our missions committee, our GRACE Association board, and a unanimous vote of the church body!  I am deeply humbled by the Friendship family’s desire to touch the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Another awesome thing to come out of last night’s service was the 40 folks who signed up to be a part of our 40 days of prayer and fasting for revival.  The dates of this prayer emphasis are Tuesday, October 26, through Saturday, December 4.  Pastor Michael Mason will be with us beginning on Sunday, 12/5, through Wednesday, 12/8.  Pray for revival!  We need 80 more folks to join this emphasis.

It is a joy to welcome Keith Young into the Friendship family on statement.  He has already been a blessing!

Pray for Bro. Kerry and the senior adults traveling to TN and the conference this week.  They leave this morning but I am not sure when they are scheduled to return.

Add these names to your prayer list for the next five days:  Joe David Bailey, Doug Chappelle, Abel Garcia, Bob & Terry Harvey, Michael Mason, Mark Mast, Terry Napier, BJ Parson, Johnny Tucker, and Jerry & Gloria Whitmore as they will be joining Lisa & me in hosting the third annual GRACE Ministries pastors’ conference Tuesday, 10/19, through Thursday, 10/21.  We anticipate 300 to 400 pastors/Christian workers will attend this conference.  Thank you to those who have given scholarships for these folks to attend this conference.  I believe God is going to show up in a mighty way.

I will blog daily while we are away.  Lord willing, Lisa & I will be home this Friday night late and I will be in the pulpit on Sunday morning at 8:00PM.

Congratulations to Auburn on a huge win this past Saturday.  65 points – wow!  I only have one question – how ’bout them Cowboys?

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 10/15/10

Pretty simple & short entry today as I was off yesterday.  Deacon Bernard along with Tony, Les, Josh, & Curtis got all of the baseboard down in the upstairs of the CAB.  Awesome!  DB tells me he will finish caulking/painting on Monday.  Praise the Lord!

Tony Barnes came home from the hospital yesterday afternoon.

Ross Genzink & Larry Crawley did an outstanding job of getting the plumbing roughed in yesterday.  They did two houses in about six hours and the inspector should come this morning.  Hopefully, those slabs will be poured around the middle of next week.

So, today Tony is taking Ross, Larry, Soy (why?) and me to catch some red snapper and other selected species of fish.  The water could be pretty tough early but is supposed to calm down as the day wears on.  Of course, I will spend most of my day baiting Soy’s hook and, if he catches a fish, taking it off for him.  He says that fish are “slimy” or something like that!  Why me Lord?

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 10/14/10

Phil Morris, son of Louise Morris, is having surgery this morning.  Tony Barnes is supposed to come home today.  Sara Nell Moulds’ mother, Miss Nell McArthur, has been hospitalized in Meridian, MS so Sara Nell will go back up there tomorrow.  Nadine’s mother, Mrs. Jones, did well through her surgery.  John Meredith is having severe back problems.  Sheila Taylor, John & Arlene’s friend, will begin her treatments in a few days.   Pray for all of these folks.

Our third “potluck with the pastor” was a huge success!  Our morning attendance was 61 (not counting staff members).  Phil Sims, Greg Boutwell, Warren Guidry, & Danny Lewis did an excellent job of frying the fish and I do mean excellent!  Cecil Guidry took care of getting everything else ready!  Lisa cooked the beans and potato salad for the guys across the road.  Thank you to these folks for a job well done!  The fellowship around the table was great!

Hats off to Deacon Bernard for putting down some more of the base in the upstairs of the CAB yesterday, caulking, and painting.  Tony and crew should finish the base today and Bernard will finish caulking & painting on Monday.  We will then be finished with the upstairs phase of the “Pastor Tim Wilson” renovation project!  Pastor Tim, thank you!

Vera Bosarge has graciously agreed to provide the meal for the Spanish folks this Sunday, 10/17.  We need someone for the following two Sundays.  Contact me via e-mail, call Lisa, or call the church office.  Thanks!

Another vacation day for me today as Ross Genzink & Larry Crawley will be doing the initial plumbing work on Soy & Deidra’s house and our house.  Ross is flying in this morning and out Saturday morning.  The slab was poured on Brad & Daphne’s house yesterday.  God is good!

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 10/13/10

Lisa and I went to visit Tony Barnes in the hospital yesterday.  He did not have a good first night post surgery but was much improved yesterday.  I did not hear from Nadine’s mother so I am going with the “no news is good news” theory.

Chris Howell sent two men to work on the carpet installation yesterday and the almost completely finished the upstairs in the CAB.  As a matter of fact, they would have finished except they ran out of carpet.  (Can you say Jay Black?)  All of the rooms are done – praise the Lord!  Tony tells me that hopefully they will shoot the base tomorrow afternoon/evening and I am hopeful that Deacon Bernard can caulk and paint on Friday.  Folks, we have had some folks do an outstanding job on this project thus far and we are so very close to be completely finished with the upstairs.

Today is “potluck with the pastor” immediately following our morning service.  Phil will be frying catfish & hush puppies and the folks attending the service will bring the trimmings.  It is going to be a great time of fellowship!

Speaking of food, we need someone to provide the meals for our Spanish ministry the remaining three Sundays of October.  Obviously, our greatest need is this Sunday, 10/17.  If you would like to bless these folks, please contact me via e-mail or call Lisa.  It would be great to hear from someone today regarding this Sunday.

We will be entering 40 days of prayer leading up to the revival services with Pastor Michael Mason.  The start date will be Tuesday, 10/26, and the ending date Saturday, 12/4.  Please pray for the services that will take place Sunday, 12/5, through Wednesday, 12/8.

Gotta go set up tables and chairs for “PWTP”!  I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

P.S. – Jack Ciak, got the envelope yesterday.  Thanks!
