SATURDAY, 3/22/14

Today’s Bible reading –  Numbers 33:40-35:34, Luke 5:12-28, Psalm 65:1-13, Proverbs 11:23

As of 9:00PM last night, Tucker Vice had taken a bottle which is a good sign.  Daphne told me that the man who is perhaps the leading doctor in Mobile has a lot of confidence in the hospital where Tucker is a patient.

It now 6:00AM and TJ sent me an iMessage shortly after 5:00PM.  They have taken Tucker off the IV and have given him a bath.  The nurses seem to think that it was just a transitional thing – praise the Lord!  (I think he may have been upset that Duke got upset in the tourney which destroyed his bracket – just saying!)

No updates on the others that we have listed this week.  Just pray for them, those battling cancer, et cetera.

You have an old electronic device you want to get rid of today?  Take it to the State Farm office in Grand Bay and give it to Bro. Chris and his team of student workers.  This is a fund raiser for our students.

My NCAA bracket took a hit yesterday too as I went 11 – 5 (New Mexico, George Washington, Nebraska, OK State & Duke were my misses)  so I am now 24 – 8 after the second round.  BTW, it really bothered me that Duke got beat!  I am guaranteed three misses in the third round based on my earlier misses.

May have a funeral today – one of the chickens.  They were free ranging yesterday when a dog (big – think Clifford) came for supper.  We got the chicken out of the dog’s mouth and feathers flew.  The injured bird was resting last night but may have succumbed to her injuries during the night.  Do they sell feathered wigs?

Titus has his first t-ball game today.  I will be there – just not wearing the shirt that says “grandfather of #?”  If it is important to Titus, it is important to me.  (My prayer is that he never deems soccer as being important!)

Regular schedule tomorrow morning and evening.  Baptism and the Lord’s Supper in the evening service.  There is a 40% chance that it will not rain tomorrow!  I had said yesterday that the weather would be good tomorrow but I was most likely wrong!  I encourage you to be faithful regardless of the weather.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

TUCKER KINTCH VICE HAS ARRIVED! (UPDATED)

Parker is now the big brother as he and his parents, TJ & Lindsey, welcomed Tucker into this world this afternoon.  Tucker checked in weighing 7 pounds and 9 ounces.  He is 20 inches long.  He and his mother are doing fine.   Congratulations to the Vice/Hatcher families!

Tucker has been breathing too rapidly and they have placed him in a special care nursery and put him on antibiotics.  Say a special prayer for Tucker, Lindsey & TJ.

I just heard from TJ and the doctor said Tucker is somewhat better.  Keep praying!

FRIDAY, 3/21/14

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 32:1-33:39, Luke 4:31-5:11, Psalm 64:1-10, Proverbs 11:22

Lindsey Vice is scheduled to give birth today around noon.  I do know she is having a boy.  Name?  IDK.  I am thinking J.T. but I could be wrong.  Seems like I remember T.J. telling me that the shorter the name, the cheaper the birth certificate?  (Of course, if that were totally true, T.J. would have him named just one letter!)  Pray for a safe delivery.

Kevin Sprinkle remains in the hospital but should come home today.  His brother, Archie, is at home but they are not sure of the next step in his battle against cancer.

Coley’s stepmother, Linda, remains in ICU with no significant change to my knowledge.

Jacqueline Crawley did well through her surgery and came home yesterday afternoon.

Alan Alridge’s father is doing better.

Bro. Kerry’s aunt has made improvement but remains hospitalized.

Bobby Stork’s brother, Donald, has a couple of spots that the doctors will be checking.

Mandi Fortner’s grandmother has issues with her aorta that are very serious.

All of the folks mentioned need our prayer support.

The service for Carolyn Blaylock went well.  The Friendship family was well represented.  Thank you to those who attended and to those who helped feed the family.  I appreciate Miss Vinnie coordinating that ministry yesterday.

We are on a regular schedule Sunday morning and evening.  We will observe the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper during our evening service.  The weather is supposed to be good so we should have a full house for worship.

I pulled Edwin Williams’ mother aside at the funeral visitation yesterday to ask if she really cooked liver and pancakes for breakfast.  She does!  Yuk!  Liver, onions, gravy, pancakes & syrup to be eaten all together!  Disgusting!  I found out this past Wednesday that Bobby Stork eats such!  Folks, there are some “sick” people in this world!  (I got to thinking – do you think Edwin’s mother ate such as she was pregnant with him?  That could explain a lot!  LOL!)

The bad news is that I will not be winning one billion dollars based on my NCAA bracket!  I missed on three of the sixteen games yesterday as I had Ohio State, WMU, and St. Joe’s winning.  The “good” news is that  Bro. Chris will not be winning the money either.  Nicole really believed that her “man” could do it!  Love is so blind!  My risky picks today are SFA over VCU and UT over UMass.  Unlike, Bro. Chris, TJ, Joe David and a host of others, I only have one bracket.  (Joe David has 64 brackets so that he will be able to say “I picked it” when it is all said and done!)

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 3/20/14 (UPDATE)

Just received word that Kevin Sprinkle was burned (lower leg) at work last night.  He was taken to the hospital but not sure if they kept him or not.

Alan Alridge’s dad is in a coma in a Tuscaloosa hospital.  Do not know the details.

Jac’s surgery has been moved up to 10:00AM.

I have failed to mention that Kevin Sprinkle’s brother, Archie, has not been getting good reports from the doctor.  He remains in a Birmingham hospital.

THURSDAY, 3/20/14

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 30:1-31:54, Luke 4:1-30, Psalm 63:1-11, Proverbs 11:20-21

Jacqueline Crawley’s surgery is scheduled for noon today.  Pray that all goes well.

The visitation with the Blaylock family will take place today from 11:00AM until the 12:00PM service time.  The visitation and service will take place at Serenity Funeral Home in Theodore.  Pray for Kent, Trish, Sheila and the entire family.

Coley Johnson’ step-mother (Tommy’s sister-in-law) could be facing additional surgery based on the findings of a MRI.  Obviously, she remains hospitalized.

J.B. Kelley’s sister (Bro. Kerry’s aunt), Marjorie, age 88, was involved in an automobile accident on Tuesday.  She is in ICU in a Hattiesburg, MS hospital with multiple injuries.

Sharon Jardee’s great grandson, Tyler, remains in a Nashville, TN hospital recovering from his surgery.

Betty Clair’s Aunt Helen is in the hospital.

Rusty Suthoff’s grandmother is having some physical problems but is not in the hospital.

Sam Schjott’s sister had surgery yesterday.

Rob Nevin is making progress but does not seemingly see that as much as everyone else does.  Pray for his physical healing and his emotional well being.

Shaun Burwell is going to have cataract surgery in the near future according to Dana.

Mandi Fortner’s paternal grandmother lives in the Monroe, LA area and the doctor has asked to see the family on Friday to discuss her condition.  It relates to her heart.

Lindsey Vice is set to give birth to their second child tomorrow.  I am hearing noonish.  (TJ is trying to get it done while he is on his lunch break in order to not miss any work!)

Darrell McMann’s flight got cancelled on Monday which caused him to miss his mother’s funeral on Tuesday.  Pray for Betty in her recovery from her surgery and broken arm.

Miss Lucine Bryant is also recovering from a broken arm.

Arnold & Jeanette Strahan’s granddaughter, Alex, continues to have problems with seizures.  Pray that the doctors can find a cure.

Sammy & Denny Bowden have a lot on their plate in taking care of their mother, Miss Eunice.  Pray for them.

Jason & Dana Taylor provided the meal for our 7:30PM Bible study group last night.  Or should I say the feast?  Great job!  I appreciate their giving Lisa a break as she does a great job week after week.  Thank you Jason & Dana!

I had picked the  MSU Spartans in my bracket and decided to stay with it even though the President did likewise.   I gave serious thought to changing my pick but decided that I really believe MSU will be the eventual winner.

The bigger question – who will win the two mile run, ten mile bike ride, two mile run – Ross or Ryan Hatcher?  (Just picking between those two)  My pick – Betty Clair!  (At least she is much sweeter and way better looking!)

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

UPDATE ON SHARON JARDEE’S GREAT GRANDSON

The following came to me from Bro. Jerry Hovel via e-mail:

“I checked with Sharon during GROW last night and Tyler was in surgery  for about 12 hours.  He had major facial reconstruction and it is a miracle he survived the accident.  His eyes are sown shut till Friday so as not to move them.  Worse case that doctor has ever seen.”

Keep praying for Tyler and his family.

WEDNESDAY, 3/19/14

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 28;16-29:40, Luke 3:23-38, Psalm 62:1-12, Proverbs 11:18-19

The obit for Carolyn Blaylock from the paper is in a separate post.  Pray for Kent, Trish, Sheila and their families during this time.

I do not have an update on Miss Kathleen Henderson but will get one today.

Jacqueline’s surgery takes place tomorrow.  Lindsey gives birth on Friday.

Mac’s nephew, Coleman, is doing well.  He may be moved into a regular room today.  The transplant took place in Texas.

By the way, Mark Mast (Canada) had surgery this past Monday.  Either a hysterectomy or hernia but I do not remember which one.  I know he was in a lot of pain yesterday per Miriam.

We are on a regular schedule this morning and tonight.  We have a “guest” cook for the 7:30PM Bible study.  I am sure the meal will be great just like it always is when Lisa does the cooking.  We will also be filling out the brackets for the NCAA men’s tourney.  (Hint – take Albany & NC State in the first round!)

In my opinion, AU made a great hire for a basketball coach yesterday.  I am speaking strictly on his ability as a coach and nothing else.  The dude can flat out coach and motivate a fan base.  Do not be surprised if AU makes the tourney as early as next season but more likely the following season.

The Knicks?  Not so much.  Phil will most likely prove to be a much better coach than president.  I may be wrong but I do not think so.  Time will tell.

If anyone speaks to my niece, Jamie, tell her that I said hello.  I have only called her like twelve times in the last couple of days but she must have caller id!

The varmint was back last night!  Soy and his contraptions – varmint proof!  Sure!

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.
