SATURDAY, 6/7/14

Today’s Bible reading – 1 Kings 2:1-3:2 Acts 5:1-42 Psalm 125:1-5 Proverbs 16:25

Charles Wainwright’s surgical procedure went well.  It was done outpatient and he came home yesterday afternoon.  Logan tells me that his dad is sore but doing ok.

The arrangements for Mrs. Hardy are as follows:  visitation from 10:00AM until the noon graveside service.  Everything at Serenity in Theodore.

I have not gotten the final arrangements on Gail Bishop but will try to get those today.

Margaret Ann Glenn seems to have improved some during the day yesterday.  What does that mean long term?  Not sure but do ask that you keep praying for her, her children, Jenn & Adam, her parents, and the family.

Our “great supper” takes place tonight beginning at 6:00PM.  Service in the auditorium and meal in the CAB.  Pray.

The gift card shower for Rusty & Caryn takes place tomorrow, 6/8.  A receptacle has been placed in the foyer of the auditorium to receive the cards.  You can place those in there at any point AM or PM tomorrow.

Regular schedule tomorrow morning and evening.  Finance Committee at 4:00PM and Mission Committee at 5:00PM.  Final day for deacon nominations.

Vacation Bible School begins Monday at 9:00AM!  Pray for our VBS!

The Lord blessed and we got all of the corn that was ready pulled yesterday.  The corn was really pretty and is very tasty.  The ears were not what I had hoped for size wise but that has to do with my side dressing getting completely washed away during one of our heavy rains in late April.

Here is what I learned during the corn process yesterday – Bernard Suthoff can watch you shuck corn and will talk your ears off during the process without ever touching a single ear of corn to help you!  Is it any wonder Rusty closes his blinds while we are mowing his yard?

Finally heard from Louise Mason in Arkansas.  Turns out that Arkansas is now getting internet on Tuesdays and Fridays each week!  The folks there are excited!  Louise is doing well and it was certainly good to hear from her.

The weed eater is calling my name.  Two yards down and three to go today.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 6/6/14 (UPDATED)

Word came this morning that Mr. Hardy passed from this life around 2:30AM.  Her daughter told me yesterday that she fully expected her mother to pass because she was so low physically.  Arrangements pending.

Sue Blodgett’s sister, Gail Bishop, also passed from this life this morning around 2:00AM.  The family is leaning toward a Monday night visitation and Tuesday morning service but the arrangements have not been finalized.

Pray for these two families as they walk through this valley.

Margaret Ann Glenn lived through the night to the surprise of the hospice care worker.  In her opinion, she does not expect Margaret Ann to live through today but did say she has seen folks come through such situations.  Bro. Johnny & Miss Judy arrived in Guatemala yesterday so I can imagine they are under some duress because of this situation.

FRIDAY, 6/6/14

Today’s Bible reading – 1 Kings 1:1-53 Acts 4:1-37 Psalm 124:1-8 Proverbs 16:24

Thirty two years ago this morning I was minding my own business getting ready to run the buses, teach Sunday School, teach children’s church, et cetera when Lisa called and said, “it is time!”  Off to the hospital we went and a couple of hours later we welcomed Deidra Ann into this world.  So, happy birthday Deidra!

Charlie Wainwright is having kidney stones blasted this morning.  Pray that goes well.

Pattie Suthoff did well through her surgery.

Mrs. Hardy is not doing well due to her low blood count.  They cannot do the procedures needed because of her weakened condition.

They called the family of Margaret Ann Glenn in last night as she took a turn for the worse.  I have not heard an update this morning.

My nephew, Cody, had emergency surgery late yesterday.  They had to go get a kidney stone.  He did well through the procedure.

A “great supper” is on for tomorrow night beginning at 6:00PM.  Pray!

Deacon nominations due by this Sunday, 6/8.  Finance Committee meets at 4:00PM and Mission Committee meets at 5:00PM on Sunday.

Someone is stealing the corn from our patch!  I have narrowed it down to Bobby, John Milton or a mystery person.  Bobby & JM have their own corn so I am eliminating them.  However, this past Wednesday morning, a certain man was asking a lot of questions about my corn such as it is ready to pick, still standing, et cetera?  I am not accusing anyone but I am just saying!  Whoever is stealing it is eating it on the spot and leaving the cobs on the ground.  They just started night before last.

So, I am having to do a Norman Richerson and pull corn today.  The family is excited!  After hearing about Norman’s injuries and hospital visit yesterday afternoon, I am a little leery about getting in the corn patch.

Corn patch, weed eater and mower are all calling my name.  I had a snapper fishing trip set for today but get to pull corn instead.  Such is the life of a “farmer!”

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 6/5/14 UPDATED

Pattie Suthoff is scheduled to have surgery this morning.  Pray that everything goes well.  My apologies to Pattie for failing to put this in my original post this morning.

Norman & Martez are pulling, shucking, silking, and cutting off corn today.  Helpers appreciated!  LOL!

THURSDAY, 6/5/14

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Samuel 23:24-24:25 Acts 3:1-26 Psalm 123:1-4 Proverbs 16:21-23

Good day in our services/Bible studies yesterday/last night.  God is faithful!

Miss Jay Love was not released from the hospital yesterday.  I do not know the details but Ethan shared that information with me at last night’s college Bible study.

Sue Blodgett’s sister, Gail, has been admitted to the hospital.

Mrs. Hardy, grandmother of Tyleena, Tara & Traci, is in ICU.  Her blood count is way low.

Liz’s Uncle Russell was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

Speaking of Liz, Bridget is schedule to give birth via c-section next Wednesday, 6/11.  Nicole Taylor is scheduled to give birth on Monday, 6/9.  Thank God for these babies!

Our “great supper” takes place this Saturday night, 6/7, beginning at 6:00PM.

Regular schedule on Sunday morning and evening.  Deacon nominations due.  Finance Committee meeting at 4:00PM.  Mission Committee meeting at 5:00PM.

Vacation Bible School begins on Monday, 6/9, at 9:00AM.

In a very unusual move, we are not going to have any activities next Wednesday night, 6/11.  Obviously, the 10:00AM service is cancelled due to VBS and, after some prayer and thought, I felt led to do the same for the evening service/classes/Bible studies.  Friendship family, do not get used to it as this seldom happens.  Our VBS workers will deserve this break!

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 6/4/14

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Samuel 22:1-23:23 Acts 2:1-47 Psalm 122:1-9 Proverbs 16:19-20

Miss Jay Love is in hopes that she may be discharged from the hospital today.  Will that happen?  Time will tell.  If it does not happen, it certainly will not be because she does not want to go home!

Courtney Cavin’s mother, Cindy Floyd, had emergency surgery on Monday night.  She was discharged from the hospital yesterday morning.  (I found Courtney yesterday morning wandering around in the hospital parking lot looking for her car!)

A “great supper” takes place this Saturday night, 6/7, beginning at 6:00PM.  Jeff & Ethan are the cookers of the meat while Lindsey Vice is in charge of the rest.

Gift card bridal shower for Rusty & Caryn this Sunday, 6/8.

Deacon nominations due by this Sunday, 6/8.  Names should be submitted in writing to Sonny Bates or the pastor.

I tried to go online and order something from that bakery in Lakewood, CO yesterday.  Folks, our nation is in trouble!  I applaud the owner for standing up for Jesus!

The weather turned very nice yesterday afternoon which allowed me some “quiet” time in my garden.  Too wet to plow but not to wet to hoe!  John Milton is already picking corn so I spent some time fussing at my corn for being slow!

The top dog aka Myrtle harassed me at the voting precinct yesterday.  Said I had to have a photo id to vote.  I complained.  She said that otherwise I needed two folks to verify who I am.  I knew every person in the room but she would not let me vote without that photo!  Plus, all of the workers were females – is that not discrimination against the males?

Regular schedule today and tonight.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 6/3/14

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Samuel 20:14-21:22 Acts 1:1-26 Psalm 121:1-8 Proverbs 16:18

Bill Kendrick posted a comment on yesterday’s blog entry regarding the woman being held in the prison in Sudan.  That is a fluid situation.  Read the comment for the very latest.  Pray!

Scott Fontenot was discharged from the hospital yesterday morning.  In a bit of an unusual move, he was discharged from the ICU because they never had a regular room available.  (Actually, if you are a big money person they keep you in ICU the entire time of your stay simply because you can afford it!)  Scott goes to the doctor on the 13th for a game plan.  (Nanette has asked if I will take her to supper so we can discuss Scott’s situation – can you believe it!)

Miss Jay Love is basically the same.  She has a ways to go to get better.

Liz Whalen’s uncle had a couple of tests performed yesterday morning.  He was not feeling well when I visited.

The Sunday night love offering for Dale & Karla was $3,000 – praise the Lord!  Thank you Friendship family for supporting this young couple!

Something new – we are having a “gift card” shower for Rusty Suthoff & Caryn Hyatt this Sunday, June 8.  There will be a container located in the foyer of the auditorium and you will simply put your gift card to them in it.  The gift cards can be to any place.  Ladies, no having to come back to the church building in the afternoon or at some other time.  Lets make this foyer shower a success and the wave of the future at Friendship!

Our “great supper” takes place this Saturday night beginning at 6:00PM.  Lindsey Vice will coordinate the side dishes and desserts.  Jeff Holifield and Ethan Nelson will cook the meat.  Invite those who are not involved in a church to come join us.  Bring the hungry.  Obviously, it is all free of charge.

Do not forget to vote today.  I feel certain that I will once again be harassed by the poll workers!  I may file a complaint!

Kennesaw State – really?

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

Tuesday, 6/3 – 2 Samuel 20:14-21:22 Acts 1:1-26 Psalm 121:1-8 Proverbs 16:18

Wednesday, 6/4 – 2 Samuel 22:1-23:23 Acts 2:1-47 Psalm 122:1-9 Proverbs 16:19-20

Thursday, 6/5 – 2 Samuel 23:24-24:25 Acts 3:1-26 Psalm 123:1-4 Proverbs 16:21-23

Friday, 6/6 – 1 Kings 1:1-53 Acts 4:1-37 Psalm 124:1-8 Proverbs 16:24

Saturday, 6/7 – 1 Kings 2:1-3:2 Acts 5:1-42 Psalm 125:1-5 Proverbs 16:25

Sunday, 6/8 – 1 Kings 3:3-4:34 Acts 6:1-15 Psalm 126:1-6 Proverbs 16:26-27

Yesterday was a blessed day in our services.  The Spirit was excellent, decisions were made at the altar in each service, the attendance was very good and God blessed in so many ways.  He is good!

Dale did a nice job of sharing the Word last night.  Thank you for supporting Karla and him financially.  I do not know the amount of the love offering but will find out today.

I did not get a chance to speak to Liz Whalen in our services yesterday but she was kind enough to post a comment on yesterday’s blog entry.  You can read it for an update on her uncle who remains hospitalized.

Scott Fontenot should be discharged from the hospital today.  I hope to catch him at the hospital this morning.

Bill Teasley was discharged from the hospital yesterday morning.  It is my understanding that he will not be receiving his chemo treatment this week.

Bro. Johnny’s sister, Margaret Ann, has had some pain issues over the weekend with her cancer.  Pray for her and for her family.

The Friendship family did well in “pounding the pantry” yesterday.  My goal is to give those who manage the food pantry another problem – no where to put all the food as June comes to a close!  Bring those non-perishables to any service.  Thank you!

“A great supper” takes place this Saturday night, 6/7, beginning at 6:00PM with our worship service.  Pray for this outreach!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SUNDAY, 6/1/14

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Samuel 18:1-19:10 John 20:1-31 Psalm 119:153-176 Proverbs 16:14-15

Scott Fontenot suffered a minor heart attack on Friday afternoon.  He was taken by ambulance to the hospital and a heart cath was done yesterday morning.  The cath revealed no blockages in the major arteries so he will be treated with medication.  He is in ICU until today and will be discharged tomorrow if everything goes as planned.

Karla B told me last night that her father, Bill, may be discharged from the hospital today.

Lisa and I visited Miss Jay Love yesterday.  She remains in CCU and they have decided to not place a pacemaker in her heart.

I will find out today from Liz Whalen if her Uncle Russell remains hospitalized.

“Pound the Pantry” begins today for the Friendship family.  The 39ers are struggling to keep up!

Illusionist Bryan Drake (Dale Bosarge) will be our guest messenger in our 6:00PM service tonight.  A love offering will be received to help him, Karla & Harper as they go through the Summer months.  Pray, attend, and give as the Lord leads.

Normal schedule at Friendship today/tonight.  Deacons meet with me at 4:00PM.

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.
