THE LATEST ON DAPHNE’S SITUATION

Several folks have asked me about Daphne’s latest report.  Here is what she sent me today – My pathology was clear which was good. My levels have not had time to come down so we will be doing additional testing before any decisions will be made. Chemo is definitely in the future but what kind/how long is undecided at this point.”

We definitely appreciate the prayers and support.  Blessings!

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The Lord has certainly blessed GRACE Ministries.  One of His blessings has been the opening and operation of the Jennie Blaukamp Ministry Center where forty (40) children have been fed a nutritious meal three days a week since early 2014.  Those children have also received help with their school work and, most importantly, are being taught the Word of God each time they meet.  The families of these children have also benefitted through the ministries of the various teams staying in the L.G. Camp, Jr. Mission House which is the base of operations for GRACE Ministries.

The plan is to add an additional twenty (20) children to this ministry beginning in January of 2015.  Thus the need to find twenty additional sponsors.  We are giving the members of the Friendship family the month of October to become a sponsor before we open the opportunity to others.  We will have forms in the foyer of the auditorium by Wednesday, 10/8.  However, the best way to sign on as a sponsor is to send the pastor an e-mail.  You can also send him an e-mail if you have questions about the cost, et cetera.

This ministry center is of God.  As such, He will provide.  This is our opportunity to join God in His work.  Blessings!

EL SALVADOR PASTORS’ CONFERENCE REPORT

First, I want to say “glory to God” for all He did during the three days of this pastors’ conference.  Those in attendance really seemed to be blessed or least that is what they expressed publicly and privately.  We recognize that God is the source of these blessings!  We give Him the glory!

Second, I want to say “thank you” to each person who prayed and/or gave financially to make this conference possible.  Most of you have never been to El Salvador but you pray and give faithfully.

Third, a really big “thank you” goes to pastors Keith Martin, Chad Middlebrooks, Terry Nappier and BJ Parson.  These men did an excellent job of teaching/preaching the Word!  They gave of their time which is a valuable commodity as well as paid their own way i.e. airfare, lodging, food, taxis, et cetera.  What a blessing to see their commitment to missions and ministry.

I did not personally hear Pastor Keith’s message on Thursday but I know he knocked it out of the park.  I heard pastors Terry, BJ & Chad as they preached and they also hit home runs!  All four of these men were very genuine and served with such a spirit of humility.  Again, what a blessing!

The conference was held in a camp setting which is ideal as no one leaves.  There were six main sessions i.e. preaching times and five breakout sessions i.e. workshops.  The conference began at 3:00PM on Tuesday and ended at noon on Thursday.  The book of Nehemiah served as the source for the messages and the workshops.  The focus was on restoration.  There were around 90 participants (I could be low on that guesstimation).  In addition to the folks from El Salvador, the conference consisted of folks from Nicaragua, Honduras and one young lady from Austria.  (One young couple rode the bus for sixteen hours in order to get to the conference – amazing!)  The musical worship was led by Pastor Carlos Rivas and a band of young men – they did a very good job.

The committee that puts these conferences together, along with the participants of this year’s conference, are already excitedly planning and anticipating next year’s conference.

In closing, to God be glory!

FRIDAY, 10/3/14

Today’s Bible reading – Jeremiah 1:1-2:30 Philippians 4:1-23 Psalm 75:1-10 Proverbs 24:17-20

Happy 18th birthday to our daughters, Dana & Gina!  Unbelievable!  Where does the time go?  Lisa and I are very grateful that God blessed us with these girls as our daughters.  We hope to make their 18th birthday memorable!  Dana & Gina, I love you and wish you the best today and every day!  (Like they read my blog!)

The men’s breakfast takes place in the fellowship hall tomorrow morning beginning at 8:00AM.  All men are invited to attend this time of food and fellowship.

The student ministry is serving a meal following the services this Sunday morning.  I do not know if it was pre-order only or not.  Bro. Chris, help me!  I will clarify in tomorrow’s post.

Morris Bryant’s mother has been admitted to the hospital as she is battling pneumonia.  I had just talked to Brenda last Friday and she told me how well her mother was doing.  Things can change quickly!

Morris’ nephew, Joey McManus, has begun chemotherapy treatments for colon cancer.  I think this is a five week treatment.

I met two folks on the trip who are battling cancer – Georgina, age 27, will receive her twenty seventh chemotherapy treatment today.  Rueben, age 47, is battling a rare form of leukemia and has had five weeks of in house chemotherapy and forty days of outpatient chemotherapy since January.  I promised both of them my prayer support.

I am hearing that C is doing ok this week.  Praise the Lord!  She received her second chemotherapy treatment Monday and Tuesday.

Regular schedule this Sunday morning and evening.  May we, as members of the Friendship family, be found faithful!

How was the pastors’ conference in El Salvador?  Great!  I will post a report at some point this weekend as it would make this entry too long to do it here.  Pray for pastors Keith, Terry, BJ & Chad as they travel home today.

Oregon got beat at home by Arizona last night, really?  Did not see that one coming!  Bama & AU have their hands full tomorrow! Can State beat A&M?

How tough is Lisa on me?  She sends me an iMessage telling me to stop by Walmart on the way home from the airport last night in order to buy groceries.  Or else!  Are you serious!  So, being the submissive husband I am (much like Will Reynolds), I did.  Folks, you just do not know!  (She is already demanding that the yards be mowed first thing this morning!  I fully assumed that Soy & Rusty would have that part done for me – wrong assumption!)

Why no entry yesterday?  No internet service!  My apologies but there was not anything I could do about it!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus!
