SATURDAY, 2/18/12

Pray for the Jerry Bosarge family as they gather today at noon for his funeral service.  Pray that the rains will hold during the time they are at the burial.  Again, this is David Bosarge’s and Liz Whalen’s cousin.

I pray that the members of the Friendship family who are in town will join us for Bible study and worship tomorrow morning and evening.  It is a “holiday” weekend/week for Mobile County and the public school system.

Spring cleaning anyone?  In Guatemala?  The L.G. Camp, Jr. Mission House is now just under ten years old (where did those ten years go?) and needs some attention before a very busy summer as fourteen consecutive teams will occupy the house between May 10 and August 17, 2012.

We could use a small group from the Friendship family to travel (at their own expense) to Guatemala to do some cleaning, painting, repairs, et cetera.  Airfares are running around $570 right now (can change at any moment) from Mobile which is good.  If interested, contact me personally before next Wednesday,  2/22, and be ready to commit.  It would be at least a five day trip and could be as long as ten days depending on your wishes.

Today marks five months since I have had a carbonated drink i.e. diet MD.  My BP was 118/64 this morning.  It really is a God thing as I was addicted to DMD.  I thank Him!

After my ordeal on Thursday night, the doctor suggested I attend a high school boys basketball game last night.  I did.  It helped but I am still scarred from Thursday night.  (It almost caused me to backslide and drink a DMD!  LOL!)

I pray you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 2/17/12

David Bosarge and Liz Whalen had a first cousin, Jerry Bosarge, pass away this week.  The visitation will take place tonight from 5:00 – 8:00PM at Serenity Funeral Home in Theodore.  Another visitation will take place tomorrow beginning at 11:00AM until the noon service time.  Pray for the family.

I had a totally dry run in making hospital visits yesterday.  Bob Henley was still in recovery and apparently none of the family members had gotten to the hospital as it was early.  Coley’s mother was in wound care.

Carla Kyser received her treatment and it basically made her sick immediately.

We will have a number of folks out of town this weekend because school is out next week.  I am happy for them.  I encourage those who remain in town to be faithful to attend our services.  I encourage those who are going out of town to attend a church service too!

Bro. Robbie will be preaching in Scobey, MS this Sunday through next Thursday.  Pray for him and pray for revival!

It was bad!  Real bad!  Really, really bad!  You ever read the book, “90 Minutes In Heaven?”  I am going to write one called “90 Minutes At A High School Girls’ Soccer Game!”  If only they had served liver and onions in the concession stand!  The final score was (ready for this?) 0 – 0!  (Slow down my racing heart!)  Taylor Sprinkle plays on Bryant’s team and Kevin was one happy, cheering parent!  The Villanueva twins play too.  A friend, Jordan Lowell, plays for Davidson and they were playing Bryant.  All 28 of us fans had a blast!  The question I could not answer was this, “where was John Wayne Bosarge?”  After all, Taylor is his granddaughter!  Folks, I am telling you if you are not saved get saved today as you do not want to spend eternity at a high school girls’ soccer game eating liver and onions!  Did I mention it was bad!

Sad to hear about Gary Carter’s passing yesterday.  Good ballplayer and it seems a better man.

Gotta crank up the Faith Academy bus.  I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus!

THURSDAY, 2/16/12

Bob Henley’s surgery went well and the doctors believe he will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow.

Linda Green’s brother-in-law did okay through his procedure but the prognosis is not good.  He received more radiation yesterday.

Carla Kyser receives another chemo treatment today.  Tommy Johnson’s dad is making improvement.  Coley’s mother remains hospitalized.  I do not have an update on Chris’ uncle.

We had a good day in our services yesterday morning/last night.  Our 8:00PM Bible study is now including a video in their study and the initial time last night was good.

I did not realize until last night that the public schools are out all of next week.  That means that this Sunday is a day when every member of the Friendship family who is in town needs to give a special effort to attend the services as we do have folks who are going to be out of town.

Bro. Robbie will be preaching in revival services in north Mississippi beginning this Sunday morning.  Pray for him as he travels and then as he preaches.  Pray for revival.

Jeremy Lin has taken the NBA by storm.  I will be curious to see what happens when Anthony comes back later this week.  I think it could be problematic but maybe not.

Morris Bryant predicts that the Faith Academy girls will win the 5A state title.  Joe David, tell the northern teams to not even bother showing up as Morris is kind of like E.F. Hutton!

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 2/15/12

Merwyn Gunter was placed in the hospital on Monday due to a continued difficulty breathing.  I visited with him last night and he is supposed to be released back to a rehab center today.

Linda Green’s brother-in-law will have a surgical procedure this morning.  It will either be a big help or could just add to his problems.

Bob Henley is to have surgery today.

Caroline Ford’s surgical procedure went well yesterday.  I spoke to one of her sons last night and she was resting at home.

Bro. Chris Taylor’s uncle had two stents placed into his heart.  According to the doctor, either this works or this is no more they can do to help him.

Carla Kyser is scheduled to receive another chemo treatment tomorrow.  Tommy Johnson’s dad has also begun a new round of chemo.

Jennifer Brown works with Lisa at State Farm.  She gave birth early yesterday morning to a nine pound, twelve ounce baby girl.  The baby’s name is Ava.  Mother and daughter are doing fine.

We are on a regular schedule today/tonight.  Our 8:00PM Bible study group has a new study guide to aid us in our study which we began last Wednesday.

I told you the UF vs Bama game could be an ugly one and it was.  I am not into moral victories!  Cannot believe that MSU had a big lead on LSU and then lost the game.  Wow!

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 2/14/12

Chris Taylor’s uncle remains in the hospital and is not doing so well.  They tried to place a stent in his heart yesterday but that did not work.  As far as I know, plans call for open heart surgery today.  Pray for him.

I visited with Coley and his mother yesterday morning.  They were in the process of releasing her from the hospital but I am not one hundred percent certain that she came home.  Obviously, she was doing better.

Caroline Ford will have a procedure done this morning.  Of course, she says there is nothing to it.  Pray for her.

Bro. Kerry and our senior adults are traveling to Richton, MS today to visit a grocery store and eat.  (Could they not have just gone around to Food Tiger and eaten at Sam’s?)  It is 3:30AM and I hear the rain falling so I hope they have safe travels to and from Richton.

I think that I remember correctly that tonight is the Red team’s opportunity in our GROW ministry.  That begins at 6:30PM.

Today is my older brother’s birthday.  I cannot remember if this is number 62 or 63 but it is something like that!  Happy birthday Eddie!

Lord willing, I will take Lisa to lunch today for Valentine’s Day.  However, I plan to be much less than average as the lunch special at The Lighthouse runs $6.75 per person.  Flowers?  Nope.  We have some left from Nicole’s shower.  Chocolates?  Nope.  She tells me that she does not need them and who I am to go against her word!  Jewelry?  Nope.  Cannot remember if it is yellow gold or white gold so I had better play it safe.  A card?  Are you serious?

Florida versus Bama tonight on the hardwood.  It may not be pretty!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 2/13/12

What a joy to welcome Bob Evans into the Friendship family by transfer of letter and then to see Marisa Felps, Danielle Julian, and Jeremy Sims follow the Lord in believers’ baptism.   A very good Sunday and we give God the glory!

Chris Taylor’s uncle, Alton Taylor, suffered a heart attack yesterday and is in a local hospital.  I did not check my messages last night so I do not know the details.

Jimmy Tagert’s father and Coley Johnson’s mother both remain hospitalized.  Hopefully, they will be discharged in a day or two.

Bob Henley is scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday.  Do not know the details but Bobby shared that with me yesterday morning.

Carla Kyser will receive another treatment this Thursday.  Tommy Johnson’s father has also begun another series of chemotherapy treatments.

It is my understanding that our students had a good afternoon of ministry yesterday as they fed some homeless people and gave them some clothes.

Chris & Nicole’s shower was great.  Thanks to all who helped and/or attended.  Yes, they did go into my closet!

I do not golf but I do enjoy watching some tournaments on television.  Caught a little of Phil’s great day yesterday.  Glad for him!

Kyle Bryant cannot seem to keep the Bama basketball players on track!  A team with fairly good promise has become a train wreck in a hurry!  When does Spring practice begin for the football team?

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SATURDAY, 2/11/12

Happy birthday to my dad and mom!  Hope your day is great!  (They do not read this blog but maybe my sister will stumble upon it and pass the word!)

The baby shower for Chris & Nicole takes place today from 10:00AM until noon in our house.  All ladies from the Friendship family are invited to attend.

Our student ministry will be going tomorrow afternoon to feed the homeless folks in the Tillman’s Corner area.  Bro. Chris seems to have a knack for picking out the worse weather days of the year for our students to be involved in this ministry.  That can be a good thing as it will serve as a vivid reminder of exactly what these folks deal with living in the elements.

Can you believe that on 2/10 there was a need to mow the yard?  Wow!  The shower takes place here today and Lisa cracked the proverbial whip early yesterday morning.  (She even made me clean up my closet!  Why would the shower participants be in my closet!)  I have to give credit where credit is due – Soy was a huge help in getting the grass cut yesterday.  While I did the weed eating, push mowing, et cetera, he rode the mower and cut grass.  Listening to his ipod, sipping on his iced tea but at least he was doing something which is better than past days.  (Of course, Deidra was not too happy when she found out that he left Lizzi in the house alone for two hours!)

Regular schedule tomorrow.  Lord willing, I will be preaching in all four of our worship services.  Baptism will be a part of our evening service.  Hope to see you there!

FRIDAY, 2/10/12

The baby shower for Chris & Nicole Taylor takes place tomorrow from 10:00AM – noon at our house.  Nicole is registered at Target, Babies R Us and Food Tiger.  All ladies from the Friendship family are invited to attend this shower.

Jimmy Tagert’s father and Coley Johnson’s mother remain hospitalized as does Gary Huhn’s mother.  Gary’s mother will most likely be discharged today.  Pray for these folks!

We are on a regular schedule this Sunday, 2/12.  I hope the members of the Friendship family will be faithful to attend the services.

Watched the end of the TSU vs Murray State game last night.  It is really difficult to go through the college basketball regular season undefeated regardless of the league.

The proposal is to move the kickoff in college football up five yards to the 35.  Translated, that means Bama will now boom it to the 3 yard line instead of the 8!  Auburn’s kicker will be putting it into the eighth row in the stands!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

P.S. – My dad (76) and mom (73) both celebrate their birthday tomorrow, 2/11.  Yes, they share the same birthdate.  They also share the same anniversary (11/13).  Happy birthday dad and mom!

THURSDAY, 2/9/12

Praise the Lord as we are seeing several folks get out of the hospital.  Amber Sessions came home yesterday afternoon.  Merwyn Gunter was moved back to a rehab facilitiy.  Neely Hatcher went home.

Coley’s mother, Cindy, remains hospitalized as does Jimmy Tagert’s father and Amy Walker’s sister.  Pray for them in their respective recoveries.

Amy Huhn called yesterday to say that her mother-in-law is in a local hospital.  Pray for her.

We had a good day in our morning service and our evening service yesterday.  Our attendance was down in our 8:00PM Bible study.

There will be a baby shower for Chris & Nicole Taylor this Saturday, 2/11, from 10:00AM until noon.  Nicole is registered at Babies R Us, Target, and Food Tiger.  The shower will take place at our house.  All ladies from the church are invited!

Wow, Austin Rivers has ice water running through his veins!  I cannot believe Duke won the game last night.  I felt as though Roy Williams did a poor job of coaching in the final three or four minutes of the game.  (He really cares what I think!)

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus!

WEDNESDAY, 2/8/12

Jimmy Tagert’s father had quadruple by-pass surgery on his heart early last night.  It was a long day as he was supposed to be taken in for surgery at 10:00AM but was not taken until after 4:00PM.  The surgeon said he did well.

Amy Walker’s sister, Nicole, also had surgery on her back yesterday.  She is in her early 20’s and this surgery was extensive.

Amber Sessions was scheduled for a test yesterday and another today as the doctors are confused as to the cause of her problems.  She has lost something like 20 plus pounds in a week’s time.

Neely Hatcher was in an ICU yesterday but was thinking he might get put into a regular room yesterday afternoon.

Merwyn Gunter was basically the same and said he would probably be in the hospital for a few more days.

I appreciate those who attended the funeral service for Polly’s landlord yesterday morning.

We are on a regular schedule today with the morning service at 10:00AM and the evening activities beginning at 6:00PM.  Our 8:00PM Bible study begins a new book tonight.

A team from Fremont, MI arrived at the mission house yesterday so pray for them as they begin doing ministry today.

Alisha Vice has posted another entry on her blog – www.alishaplusafrica.blogspot.com.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.
