TUESDAY, 9/9/08

Obviously, I did not post an entry yesterday and, yes, I heard about it from several folks!  Sorry about that!  I could offer excuses but just suffice it to say that it didn’t happen!

We had a good weekend and we thank the Lord for His blessings.  Our attendance was back “up” since it was not a holiday weekend and we weren’t concerned about a hurricance making landfall.  Our AWANA ministry began on a high note.  It was a refreshing thing to “feel” the excitement Sunday afternoon/evening.

It was a special blessing to have Carla Felps Kyser attend our 10:30AM service this past Sunday.  She has just begun working half of a day as she continues her treatments.  Carla is one of the most positive folks you will ever meet and I ask that you keep praying for her.

I received word from Michigan on Sunday that Wayne DeYoung’s brother, Dennis, 54, was tragically killed in a farming accident this past Saturday.  I did not know Dennis but do know so many other members of the extended DeYoung family and ask that you join me in praying for them during this most difficult time.  I believe I am correct in saying the funeral service will be this Thursday, 9/11.

Earl Kirschenman came home from the hospital this past Saturday afternoon and now has to basically do nothing for the next month or so.  Pray for him.  Thankfully, we presently have no members of the Friendship family in the hospital.

Dale Bosarge and I had the privilege of visiting with Miss Joyce Bosarge last night as a part of our FAITH ministry.  Miss Joyce begins her chemotherapy treatments tomorrow so pray for her.

The just posted 4:00AM update on Hurricane Ike now has even Louisiana outside the cone which is a good thing for those folks.  It is my understanding that a high pressure system is going to steer it south and west with landfall coming in south Texas at some point late Saturday.  Again, we don’t pray it on anyone but are thankful that we don’t appear to be a landing point for this storm.  The winds have ceased to 80 miles per hour and, prayerfully, it will not pick up much strength before making another landfall.  Pray for those who have been affected already as well as those to be affected.  Also, continue to pray for those recovering from Hurricane Gustav.

Speaking of the weather, the Tide simply rolled over the Green Wave last Saturday.  I realize the Tide was a bit low in appearance but we simply didn’t want to show the Hilltoppers all of our offensive weapons.  Bret Hart, you can go ahead and tell your boys in Little Rock to expect a High Tide on 9/20 around 11:37AM!

If I shared all of the “unspoken” prayer requests that I am dealing with right now then you would better understand our need to pray.  Suffice it to say that others need your prayer support so please be fervent in your praying!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus!
