URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

Pastor Benny Still called at 7:25AM to share the sad news that Miss Kathleen Boykin has passed away.  This is a total shock as she was involved in a ministry all day yesterday and was at church visitation last night.  Obviously, the arrangements aren’t even thought of at this point but I simply ask you to pray for Marisa and her family during this time of grief!

WEDNESDAY, 9/10/08

Love is in the air!  No, wait – those are love bugs in the air and they are everywhere!  The only happy person in South Mobile County is Joey Switzer who owns the local car washes.  Where do they come from and where do they go when they aren’t here twice a year?  Black snow is what they appear to be as you are driving and, just like snow, they are always coming at you!

Miss Joyce Bosarge will begin her chemotherapy treatments today so please remember her in your prayers.  Also, continue to pray for the DeYoung family during their time of loss.

I was able to make phone contact with Danny LeBlanc yesterday afternoon and they are doing well.  His house received some minor damage and his trees had some major damage.  They got electricity this past Sunday thanks to some men from Alabama Power in Tuscaloosa.  (Danny & Angie are actually pretty excited as this is the first time they have ever had electricity!)  I heard that Barney & Linda Rogers are still without electricity but they are doing okay.  I don’t know about Robby & Tia Heath.

Danny’s parents have a house on Grand Isle, LA and they went there this past Monday for the first time.  Danny said it looks like a war zone.  The house still had five inches of water after having received nineteen inches total.  So, we still need to pray for those folks recovering from Hurricane Gustav.

It still appears that Hurricane Ike will make landfall in south Texas at some point this Saturday.  Pray for the folks in the path of this storm that has already claimed numerous lives and left major damage behind.

The big news of the day – Grand Bay now has a McDonald’s Restuarant!  (Is McDonald’s technically a restaurant?)  It actually opened for business last week!  Wow, McDonald’s, Sam’s Burgers (2 locations), Hardees, Waffle House, TA truck stop, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Food Tiger, Century Bank, CVS, Walgreen’s, Chevron & GB – soon they will just call us New York City West!

Facebook and grapevine talk have it that Ross & Kathy Genzink are set to become grandparents in March ’09.  Congratulations to them along with Jeremy & Jenna.  I have always respected Ross as an elder and now even much more so as a grandfather!

It is a normal Wednesday for us with morning church and then the activities of the evening.  I hope the members of the Friendship family will join us for these services/classes/Bible studies.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.
