THURSDAY, 9/11/08

As I typed the numbers, 9/11, my heart grew sad as I thought back to that awful day seven years ago.  Lisa called me that morning and said I should go home and turn on the television because something strange was happening in New York City.  I never imagined.  So, as you go about your day keep the folks who lost loved ones during that terrible tragedy in your prayers.

Hurricane Ike is a rather large storm and is now expected to make landfall as a category three, possibly four, hurricane.  Join me in praying for the folks along the Texas coast as they make arrangements and evacuate.  Pastor Abel Garcia and his family have gone to San Antonio.

Continue to pray for Miss Joyce Bosarge as she took her first chemotherapy treatment yesterday.  Also, pray for Mr. Frank Boykin, Marisa, Lynn, Wayne and the entire Boykin family during this time.

An airline in New Zealand is looking for bald men to serve as walking billboards.  They will have a temporary tatoo placed on the back of bald heads and stand in lines in three airports.  The tatoo encourages folks to use a new system for faster check in.  They are paying $660 for this job and the tatoo washes off in about two weeks.  (Or you could stand in the ninety degrees heat on one of the main highways in Mobile, Alabama holding a “going out of business” sign but I don’t know what the pay is for those jobs)

I mentioned in yesterday’s post that Grand Bay now has a McDonald’s.  I read last night where a Wisconsin man who is OCD has now consumed 23,000 Big Mac burgers.  He began his quest on May 17, 1972 and has had only one day since then without a Big Mac.  That was the day his mother died to respect her request.  He has literally kept all of his paper receipts from those purchases.  Can you say, “too much time on your hands?”

I am about to go test my theory that folks don’t bother you when you are mowing your yard at 3:30AM.  I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.  Remember 9/11.  Remember Calvary!
