URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

I received an e-mail from Kim French around noon today telling me that David’s mother, Jo French, was placed back in the hospital last night with blood clots in her lungs.  The doctors are saying the initial twenty-four hours are critical.  Jo just went through surgery for cancer and that went well.  Please pray fervently!

Melissa Brown learned as we were coming home from camp that Keith’s grandfather, Mr. Brown, was undergoing surgery this afternoon.  I think she told me for a broken hip?  At any rate, please pray for Mr. Brown.

I also received word from Cecil Guidry telling me that Sambo did well and they did not have to take any bone from his hip.  He is in a lot of pain today but is expected to go home from the hospital in a few days.

I just spoke to Bro. Jack Leasure.  He was leaving to meet with the funeral directors.  It appears (nothing in concrete) that the visitation will take place Sunday night and the service at some point Monday.  It also appears that everything will probably take place from the church with burial in Serenity Gardens.  I will update once these arrangements are finalized.

We returned home from camp around 1:30PM today.  We had a blessed week.  I am meeting this Monday night, 6/25, at 7:30PM with all of our high school students who have an interest is stepping up to be a leader within this group.  Any student, 9th – 12th grades (next school year) interested is invited to attend.

Bro. Jerry posted an entry today from yesterday (internet problems) so take the time to read of their adventures.

FRIDAY, JUNE 22

First, I received a voice mail last night telling me that Miss Christine Leasure has passed from this life and entered heaven.  Jack & Christine are a precious couple and have been so very involved in the Friendship family for a long number of years.  Miss Chris suffered from alzheimers and has had several physical problems in recent times.  Lisa and I visited her in the hospital last Friday and she looked so bad.  It was heartbreaking.  I know that Bro. Jack is devastated and is in need of our prayers.  The comfort comes from knowing where Miss Chris is today.  Obviously, the arrangements are incomplete so I won’t speculate on what they might be.  I will post the arrangements on this blog as soon as we know them.

I haven’t gotten an update on Sambo’s surgery.  I did receive an e-mail from Trish Cohen stating that her surgery is scheduled for July 19th (that is not a misprint).  Wow, in my opinion that is a long time when dealing with a cancerous tumor.  However, it is my understanding that the hospitals in Jacksonville are booked solid with surgeries so she is having to wait.  She is on the list to come in earlier in the event of a cancellation.  Pray for Trish & Bernard.

There were no blog entries from Bro. Jerry or Moffett Road last night.  I am going to assume that probably means no internet service at the mission house.  We will just go by the adage stating “no news is good news!”

Wild Week comes to a close today.  It has been a good week and I think God has begun a work in the life of our students.  It is going to be a process and not a one week wonder.  Pray for our students as we meet together to find God’s will for our student ministry.  I am guesstimating that we will be back at the church at 1:00PM as the students want to stop for a quick souvenir shopping excursion – joy, joy, joy!  If we see that we are going to get to the church earlier, the students can call to inform the parents of our arrival time.

Special thanks goes to Dale Bosarge, Melissa Brown, Deidra Crawley, Jodi Crawley, Brooke Ladnier, Teresa Ladnier, and Chris Taylor for serving as chaperones for this camp.  They have done a great job and I appreciate their attitudes and actions.

Again, check here for Miss Christine’s arrangements.  Pray for us as we travel home.  I look forward to seeing you in church Sunday.
